2008 G37 spoiler removal

Hello,

I am going to be bringing home a 2008 g37 6mt today with a spoiler. Can anyone tell me how labor intensive/costs involved in removing it? Can I do it myself? Also, how much does the silver lip cost that will go in it's place...

First, you're going to have holes in the trunk from where the screws that keep the spoiler were mounted. You'll have to get that patched up and painted.

Second, it is required by law to have that center brake light, so you'll probably have to buy a rear shelf with that light and install it. Cars with the spoiler have a different rear shelf that doesn't have the light, since that light is on the spoiler itself.

The holes themselves already make this too much work for removing something that IMO looks better than the mini chrome trunk lip anyway. Also, the rear window is way easier to clean and add tint without that light.

Third, congrats on getting a 6MT

This about sums it up. If you really want the chrome lip, I can pretty much guarantee you'll find people on this forum that would trade you their chrome for your painted. Good luck and welcome! Props for being a female with a GREAT taste in automobiles!! BTW-I'm sure people will be asking you to post pics of both your car and yourself...... jus a heads up

Thanks for the reply. Will probably end up keeping it. Sounds like too much work.

I actually like the clean look of the car with or without the spoiler also. I don't care for the chrome of the lip either. I'm going to color match it and see how it looks.

You can prob find a local who's willing to trade trunk + rear deck with you if you have a common color.
