Tried taking of the stock muffler and came up to a problem
Now im sitting down here getting mad at this stubborn bolt that wouldnt come off. Tried soaking them with pb blaster over night but no luck. I really dont want to pay 60 bucks to get this installed.
Did anybody here change the muffler at home? Am i just using the wrong tool or whAt? So much curse word was spat out from my mouth...

While holding the wrench on the bolt. ball up a wrag and put it in your wrench hand holding the wrench. once secure start to hit your palm against the hand holding the wrench and it should cause enough tourqe to release the bolt. Its worked very well for me before in the past.

On my old G35 i had to cut off the bolt holding the exhaust tips on. the shop had smashed it on there. it was the biggest pain ever. had to jack the car and cut it off with a dremmel with a metal cutting disk. must have taken 1/2 hour and it got hot as hell. then i forgot it was hot and grabbed it. Good times

When I changed mine they were a pain too...I found the louder my grunt and the more foul a word I used the easier they became to break loose. I since have bought a sweet Craftsman cordless torque wrench and it works wonders! No more high blood pressure or neighbors coming out to see what is going on. Be safe man, I first tried that with just a couple of jacks and when the car began to shake it was a little scary. Get some jack stands if you don't already. Good luck man!

Man i remember the days when I though the muffler bolts were hard to get off lol. Imagine trying to do the cats. Now that was a real pain in the ***.
For next time though just soak it with PB then get a real long cheater bar. The longer the better. Also buy some 6 point sockets. They get alot better grip and are less likely to strip than 12 point sockets.

Is the bold rounded off? If so spend $15 and buy a set of Bolt Out damaged bolt removers.

If the problem is just not enough torque to get it removed, and you've already sprayed it liberally with PB blaster and let it soak overnight, then you need more torque than you have. Obviously you don't have an impact gun or you'd have used that and wouldn't be posting. The alternative is to take it to any shop and get them to loosen it with an impact for a few bucks. Or buy yourself an 18" or 24" breaker bar and DIY. You will need one of these if you work on your car much anyway.
An alternative to the breaker bar is a long hollow bole like a piece of pipe or hollow jack handle. It will give you enough torque to break them loose.
To prevent this the next time, use anti seize on the bolts when you put them back on.

Let it soaked with pb blaster for two days, breaker bar wasnt enough. Got fed up with this bull**** and came to mufflershop waiting here to get the estimate for the cost... If it will cost me more than 70 bucks ill buy the wireless impact wrench. Anyway i asked about getting the straight pipe from muffler to cat. Its 400. Should i do it?
