even though we pulled it out, Mid-Life changed the cover piece.
it's because the cover did not snap on, so the key hole had to be taken out to make it snap on.

Mid-Life got the same piece, i don't think you can change the whole piece

only the cover.... that other piece is actually a part of the passenger door handle...lol

I don't think it's wise to replace the whole thing. In case your key battery is ever dead you can still get the cover off to access the original key slot. I know you get a low battery warning or you can go buy a new battery, but it just seems smarter to leave it there and cover it up. Looks the same from the outside and is less work.

Got mine from Riverside Infiniti, they have an eBay store with tons of parts, it's like $30 shipped.

I'd say be sure to wrap the screwdriver in a towel or something as my stock piece was a PITA to remove and I ended up scratching my door above the handle because I didn't wrap it up.

^^+1 for Riverside. Thats where I got mine. You can put electrical tape over the screwdriver but really I would just pull the door handle out and put a towel in there then pop it off where its not exposed.

I think i have the worst luck with any mods no matter how simple. I ordered the key hole delete cover. I received one...although it is for the G35. Ours our flat on the end, this one is concave. Back to the dealership i go.

Just did this mod on the coupe ('11). Was worried that the paint would get scratch so went about it the traditional way, by pulling out the plastic hole cap on the side of the door and using the 5/32 hex key to have a little more leeway. Would have been a 5 minute deal but the hex key fell into the door. Had to take the door panel off. Took about a half hour to fetch the key but I was actually quite surprised at how easy it was to remove/replace the door panel. My Volvo C30 was a nightmare to remove. For some reason, Infiniti seems to be quite mod friendly as opposed to other brands.

Anyway, the key delete looks great and no scratches!
