Question Bumper/Mirror Protection on Road Trips?

I'm gonna be taking my G on an interstate road trip for the first time this year. Looking around the forums, I could have sworn there was a video (MN G Crew?) where one of the cars covered the bumper in painters tape for protection against rocks and bugs. Anyone here done such a thing, or have any other suggestions? This is only for the 8 hour highway drive, not local driving.

painters tape works well as long as you know how to layer it so the wind dont rip it off but i think a better idea would be a car bra you can purchase at most stores and at least thats reuseable

The bra may end up being my solution, but tape is the sort of temporary solution I'm looking for. Have you seen someone mess up putting tape on?

Blue painter's tape. Saran wrap or plastic shrink wrap. Don't laugh, it works.

That's what I'm talking about! My kind of solutions. They're cheap enough that they won't effect my pocket too much, but will offer enough protection from bugs, tar, etc.

Plastidip would take to long to apply, especially for only 8-9 hours of use. Great product though.

So if you use plastic wrap, how do you apply it so it stays on? Also do you cut out an opening in the grill so there is air flow into the radiator? If this works, I'll be using it for my longer trips too.

Have you never used saran wrap before? It clings. The paint needs to be clean. Yes, make cutouts for air to pass through the grille obviously unless you want overheating issues. Or simply don't cover the upper an lower grilles.

A vehicle traveling at 55 MPH meets a rock chip travelling at the same speed-Saran wrap (28µ -1.1 Mil) will stop the impact damage-interesting

Easy BB. No need to get your panties in a ruffle. I've never used it for anything other than food or binding tires together for shipping, so my experience with plastic wrap at high speeds is non-existent. Common sense tells me to use a leather bra for something that can be taken on and off or something that is a little stickier than just cling (like the painter's tape). I've never seen painter's tape used until I came to this forum and I've never heard of plastic wrap being used until I stumbled upon this thread.
