3m and there is another product that 3m makes but sold under another name. I'm getting a new one that SELF HEALS when it gets knocked or cut open open. Pretty cool.

I've had mine since 12/06. No regrets.

I'm getting mine done (my M) on Thursday. Installer was talking to me about the film they use (sorry, don't know the name). He said it costs him $2,200 a roll as is a bit thicker than the "norm" (could all be BS but they were working a DB9 Coupe in the shop and their reputation is solid). He was saying the adhesive chemicals you use make a difference as far as yellowing over time. He also said all films will get "xxxx" (sorry, can't remember the term he used) over time, basically develop a slight texture and it would not be noticeable on a bumper but would on a large flat surface (aka hood).

It was 3M. Other than for the nicks from daily driving to and from work, the clear bra still looks great. No yellowing even parked daily in the sun.

Did they do the full hood, or partial? If partial, how bad does the seam look? (FYI....my G is black)

I had 3M Xpel installed on my 2006 IS350. It help up pretty good. I had it installed on the bumper and the leading edges of the hood and a little bit of the fender. It never yellowed. But the edges of the plastic did fray a small bit after about 4 years. That lead to a noticeable line on the hood. So, after 6 years I took it off the hood and fenders. Even after a lot of buffing there was a faint line of demarcation you could see where the area under the film was slightly darker. My car was black, so this probably made the slight variation more noticeable. The light had to be just right though for this to be seen.

However, the film did what it was supposed to do. You could see many small blemishes on the bumper's film where it had deflected stones.

Bottom line, I wouldn't get it installed on the hood again, just the bumper.
