Removing Clear Bra

Removing Clear Bra
I wanted to write up real quick how I removed the bra from the front of my G. This is probably a "duh" for most folks out there, but I learned a little while I did this, so I figured I'd share.
I never liked the bra, it was on when I bought the car, and it'd seem that the prior owner did everything wrong from a waxing standpoint as there there was a black line at the edge of the bra ... it kinda sucked (my G is Platinum Silver, so it was very obvious).
When I added my aero bumper, the bra just had to go.
I just had no idea how painful it'd be.
So the big thing is to do it while it's warm. Very warm. After trial and error, I discovered that if I left my car out in direct sunlight, it'd warm the bra up so that it was more pliable and easier to pull off. I guess you could use a hairdryer or something, but heating everything up is probably better.
So while you're pulling the bra off, the toughest part to deal with is the adhesive that gets left behind. I used Goo-Gone to soften up the adhesive, but I found the gel type Goo-Gone when I did the hood which was WAY better than the watery kind - it just stayed there. Let the Goo-Gone sit for a while then use a towel to rub it off. I preferred a real towel instead of a paper towel as it was rougher and gave me better "traction" with the adhesive.
After much, much elbow grease getting the adhesive off, the car looked terrible as there were lots of marks where the adhesive didn't come off clean and just seemed to stain the paint. One trip to the auto store later and I hit the car with Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I followed the directions and within 20 minutes the car looked absolutely beautiful.
So, absolutely the best thing to do, way harder than I expected, but definitely the worth the work. Hope this helps...
Cheers,
Hywel

I know how you feel! it's really a BIG PITA to remove them, the longer you wait to remove it, the harder it gets! I bought the Xpel Clear Bra when I got my 2003 350Z, it was perfect and looks great at first, but then after 5 yrs, it started to turn yellow.. I finally decided to remove all of it when I trade in the car last year (after 8 yrs) and I had to use heat gun, goof off, elbow grease, and many many hours in the garage to take it off. I will NEVER get the clear bra again! I rather just paint the front bumper if there are any chips, etc..
