Help with Porter Cable and m105/m205 on black paint
Hi everyone, wondering if I could get some help with getting swirls out of my 2010 Black G37. I just got the porter cable and m105/205 combo. I used the tangerine hydrotech pads with the 105 and the cyan hydrotech pads with the 205, however I can't seem to get the swirls out of my black paint.
I put 3 pea size amount of product on the pad and then spread the product on speed 2 around the area. I then go to speed 5 on the porter. The thing is that it seems that the product dries up after one pass with the porter on speed 5 and possibly why I can't get the swirls out. Am I not putting enough product or am I doing something wrong? Oh yah ... also I noticed that I have a hard time wiping off the polish after. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

With the 105/205 you need to prime the pad. Put some of the polish on the pad and then spread it all over. Work it well into the pad. Then use it like you have been. Don't work it as long like you would some of the Menzerna polishes that take a while to break down. It should produce results after just a couple of passes. Use moderately heavy pressure with the 105, a little less with the 205.

Thanks Black Betty. I'll try it again. Actually the car came out shiny, but if I look real closely with my halogen lamp, I still see the scratches. I'll try to do a panel and see how it goes. Hopefully that pad priming will help with the product drying up.

Priming the pads should help with the flashing (drying up). If it's still not getting all the scratches out, try going with the next more aggressive polish (M95) on a yellow or PFW pad. That should get it.

may be try using a little more product to see if that helps. When I use my porter cable I make a complete "X" across the pad. Also are you making sure that you are working on a wax free surface. Use Dawn Detergent as a car wash to get all of it off. Just make sure you put a GOOD protectant back on once you get done removing the swirls.
