Would a wool pad help?

Hello all, Began polishing my new purchase and was a little frustrated that I couldn't get some of the deep swirl marks/scratches out. I used the most aggressive combo I had: An Uber yellow pad and Meguires 105. I worked on each section 3 separate times and still had some scratches. Would going to a wool pad help? I cant feel the scratches with my nail but they can be seen in the proper light as shown in the photo below. Oh, I am using the PC7424. The results are not bad but they are not perfect...

Uhhh.... I can't see any scratches in your "after" pic. It looks good from my perspective dude. You can always try blocking the area with 2000 grit wet paper, then buff.

It looks like your results are a huge improvement, but not quite perfect. I'd suggest trying Meguiar's Speed Cut M95 compound on a purple wool pad. If that combo wont get it out, you probably will require wet sanding. I wouldn't advise that you try this yourself on your car until you have practiced quite a bit and feel very comfortable with your skill.

Wool Pads

Wool pads are not recommended for random orbital machines (Porter Cable 7424, etc) as wool pads nap / fibres works more efficiently with a centrifugal motion If the nap (fibres) of the wool pad is longer than the eccentric offset (stroke) of the random orbital polisher (5/16 –inch) the effective transfer of energy will be lost. Foam cutting pads tend to be much’ stiffer’ than wool fibres and thus will transfer the movement of the machine to the paint surface more efficiently than a comparable wool pad on an orbital polisher.

The Flex 3401 is the exception to (1) above as the forced rotation supplies a centrifugal motion to the pad. The two wool pads (actually one is a hybrid wool / foam) Lake Country Purple Foamed Wool and the other is a Micro-SurfaceŽ TufBuf Black natural lamb’s wool polishing pad
