Finally found ORANGE PEEL

Yesterday I finally was at the right angle to see the side of the car with orange peel . I hated to even admit I seen it , I haven't even told my wife yet .

I keep seeing cars on a daily basis with a load of orange peel , what the hell is the deal ?????

Yep, and just think, if panel repainting is required, the degree of orange peel needs to be matched with the re-spray too.

Unless the car is going to be a show car, orange peel is good since it actually protects the car from the Sun.

If you look at the finish of your paint from certain angles you can see that the finish looks like the peel on an orange and is not completely flat. Some cars our worse than others my Bo g coupe is not nearly as bad as my red silverado duramax. Even with a new paint job you can see orange peel only way to get rid of it is to wet sand your car and polish out the paint. Very long process and you also lose thickness to your clear so I wouldn't recommend it unless it's a new paintjob and the painter went with a couple extra coats of clear to allow for the color sanding.

To my knowledge and personal experience, the orange peel look is relatively evident on the newer Infiniti's with ScratchShield. It isn't due to Infiniti's crappy paint so much as the coating that is sitting on it.

My ScratchShield-like cellphone screen protectors have the same look.

I've read that over time the coating fades/wears and it goes away. I honestly don't mind it that much because I can barely see it on my black car unless I really try.

Interesting read.

@Wlmngtn: Wow. My black G37x isn't like that...yet? Not sure if its something that changes with weather/time. Right now its cold here, and has been since I bought it.
