Clear Bra - best deals?
#5
I wanted to clear bra my car but I heard some bad things about it and ended up not getting it. If you are in a city with a lot of rural cities then by all means try your any of your local window tint and ask for 3M clear bra

I've found that installers are all over the place with prices, of course pre-cut are cheeper then the custom cut installs. Also there are a lot of installers that are still "learning" their trade. Try to find someone you can check up on as you don't want to be their homework assignment.

Location, coverage, film used.... all go into the price. Maybe starting off with where you are at will help you get some info.
Also I would look for a clear bra installer... not a window tinter. You want someone that specializes in paint protection film not a tinter who does some clear bra installs in his spare time.

Right after picking the car up from the dealer I went to the installer to get fenders, mirrors, hood, and the bumper done.. my G is black so i figured rock chips would be very visible. Plus if you look in the net you can see some exaples of fender benders where cosmetic damage has been completly avoided through the use of this tape.
here is what you have to know before going through with it, i had to learn the hard way:
Look for a reputabkle dealer, someone who you can take complaints to if something goes wrong. Key word: "warranty"
Schedule the appointment in the morning, so you can inspect the car under optimum lighting conditions, if they used a knife to cut the tape it will leave a cut in the paint.. no matter how light it is.
When the Material is precut it keeps the exacto knife of the installer away from your car.. and thats exactly what you want.. some will tell you custom is better.. bullsh*t... custom generally means uneven lines, insane prices, and marks from the knife...
I would know, i have some of those custom lines on my bumper...
ps: before i have people trying to tell me that custom installers arent all bad... I know.. they arent all bad... but for the most part they just cant afford the plotter.. or are in training... so get lots and lots of refferences before going to an installer like that... here in Canada they are quite rare...

I would go with a precust one before having a custom job done. Xpel.com offers this service and the installer simply plots it out and cuts your job from a roll of film.
Another thing, if you decide to clearbra your headlights (IMO, the best investment of all the clear bra options) make sure your installer is using the thicker material.

doing the headlights and the door cups ASAP
and yeah.. for bumper, fenders, mirros, and hood.. about 800 is a good deal...
400+ for bumper alone.. of he is up to doing it.. most will not bother, its too hard and takes too long..
250+ for the hood and fenders
150+ headlights and goor cups

Bought a blk IPL and looking to install a clear bra in NYC area. Spoke to and thinking of using Executive Paint Protection in Westbury NY.
Anyone dealt with them before?
They quoted me $1,100 to do front bumper, full hood, mirrors, headlights, and side skirt.
