Solution to Winter Detailing... Optimum No Rinse

Just wanted to share a product with you all that I've grown to love for winter detailing or really detailing in general... Optimum No-Rinse (aka... ONR as many detailers will refer to it).

What is ONR?

This is one of the most revolutionary products ever created for detailers!

The Optimum No Rinse is truly a one of a kind product that allows you to safely wash your vehicle without having to use large amounts of water. If you don't have access to a hose or if you need to wash your vehicle during the cold winter months the Optimum No Rinse is an absolute must have product. Simply add 1 ounce of Optimum No Rinse to about 1 - 2 gallons of water and then take a soft mitt, sponge or towel and wash the vehicle. When you are done dry the vehicle just like normal with a paint safe microfiber towel.

The secret to this amazing formula is the substantive polymers that bond to the paint while washing which protect the paint. They create an unbelievably glossy and slick surface that allows you to wash safely without the fear of washing with too much friction. Therefore you can wash safely and easily without having to rinse your vehicle off. Additionally this is an environmentally safe product that has no harmful chemicals and reduces the amount of water used during your washing process. The combination of all these outstanding features makes the Optimum No Rinse the most technologically advanced cleaning product ever created. This product is ideal for mobile detailers, winter washes and enthusiasts who live in apartment complexes without a hose source.

Do you have a Black Obsidian G37? You can successfully use ONR without introducing swirls. I use it on my BO G37.

Would highly recommend you all pick some up... Optimum No-Rinse is available in 32oz and 128oz sizes, but do yourself a favor and pick up the 128oz. You'll love it that much and it never hurts to have it on hand.

Optimum No-Rinse -- 32oz -- $15.99

Optimum No-Rinse -- 128oz -- $39.99

Here's a vid on how to use it...

Best product I've added to my arsenal in years. Wash, lube, QD, provides so many options. Honestly though, it accounts for probably 90% of my washes these days, not just winter. I only pull out the hoses when my car needs some love in the wheelwells, and even still sometimes I'll use an ONR wash instead of normal wash buckets. Love this stuff...

I just can't bring myself to use this stuff. No matter how many times I hear someone say how great it is, or read about it on Autopia, I still prefer to wash my vehicles by first rinsing (remove any loose surface dirt), then washing, rinsing, and drying. I'm pretty **** when it comes to cleaning my vehicles, but people who see my 2004 4Runner think it looks like it just came out of the showroom....and that's my daily driver that sees all kinds of bad weather, mild offroading, and tons of winter salt. It barely even has a swirl in the paint, even after almost 7 years!

Thumbs up

This product is AWESOME!!! If you live in an area with salt AND you have a black car, you will love this stuff.
Nothing cooler than rolling out of your garage in the middle of winter with a car that looks brand new, compared to all the salt stained cars on the road. Nice little "pick me up" in a dark dreary winter.

Shane D

PS: If done properly, no swirls or scratches. I was doubtful at first, but it is safe.

I have ONR i'n a separate spry bottle that I use to spray down each section b4 applying my ONR with wash mitt. I basically use two bucket method with gritt guards and one w water and one w ONR... No swirls or scratches on my paint , although if there is heavy dirt or dust etc.. I do a presure wash just to be safe , but through out the week many 2-3 times a week I detail w ONR i'n just 20 min it's so fast and if you live i'n a Condominium this wrks great. I love detailing i'n my garage ...

Hey folks,

I just tried this stuff last night and it works GREAT! I'll be washing with NOR more once the Midwest winters hit.

One question I had was about the MF wash mitt. I can't seem to get the dirt off it it. It won't rise off at all.

Optimum Opti™ - Clean water-less wash is designed to wipe away dirt and grime from automotive paint and other surfaces safely and effectively in a spray and wipe application. The substantive polymers encapsulate the dirt and grime to protect the paint from marring while lubricating and bonding to the painted and other automotive surfaces to provide greater protection while leaving a slick glossy finish behind.

A combination of polymers and surfactant cleaners safely removes dirt and grime and leaves a glossy protective finish. Based on the same surfactant type polymers used in Optimum (OPT) No Rinse™ Wash & Shine New Formula (ONR) it has increased cleaning ability but is safe for use on all automotive surfaces.

ONR works fine for a car with light to medium road dirt while Optimum Opti™ - Clean can be used on a car with several days of built- up road salt, dirt and grime. The reason is that Opti™ - Clean contains the same polymers as ONR that encapsulate dirt but at a much higher concentration, as well as additional polymers not used in ONR. A totally waterless wash that provides some surface protection and its ideal for a quick clean up or for use when there is no water available (apartments, condominiums, concours d’élégance or car shows) Simply spray Optimum Opti-Clean on any surface and wipe off with a plush microfiber towel till the area is clean and dry.

[While both of these products are pH neutral, Opti™ - Clean contains much higher levels of polymers than No Rinse as well as some new polymers that we developed for this type of application. The added polymers are necessary to compensate for using a fraction of the water as compared to a regular No Rinse wash] David Ghodoussi OPT.

Application- - avoid cross-contamination by using different micro fibre towels for differing surfaces i.e. separate towels for glass, paintwork, wheels, and interior surfaces. Spray liberally on painted surfaces and wipe clean with a plush microfiber towel.

Fold and use a new section of the towel as needed. For glass and interior surfaces, apply one or two sprays and wipe off with a clean plush microfiber towel. For lower panels and wheels, spray liberally and let it soak for a few seconds and then wipe off. When there is heavy dirt build up, use Optimum (OPT) No Rinse™ Wash & Shine New Formula (ONR).

The Optimum Opti-Mitt 8 Inch Foam Wash Mitt is a soft (80 – 100 PPI) nonabrasive wash mitt designed to work with Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine and Optimum Car Wash to remove grime without scratching. The porous foam "absorbs" dirt and oil to prevent paint marring. The coarse yellow foam is excellent at cleaning wheels. Use the Opti-Mitt every time you wash your vehicle for safe, swirl-free washing.

I have this stuff and works awesome.

instead of pre spray, I just damp some water/solution from my blue sponge onto my work surface, wait, then clean.
