meguiars wheel cleaner damaged my calipers

I would agree with MCSA. The only other wheel cleaner that I've used from Meguiars with good results is the Gold Class all wheel cleaner. 99% of the time I use Zaino's Z-7 car wash soap on my wheels.

nah, it was about 45 mins after shutoff, so maybe just warm.
i'm looking for some kind of metallic red paint that is safe for the calipers and effective against heat. any recommendations?

You might want to try caliper paint. They do make it, ya know. Or you can use just about any hi-temp paint. I actually used regular old flat black spray paint (on one of my other cars) and it hasn't peeled or chipped off at all.

My concern is if I paint it unevenly or miss a small nook and create "hot/cool spots" do you think it's 100% safe? I don't want anything to crack or warp due to the paint insulating any additional heat.
some of these guys who use G2 put 3-4 layers maybe that's not such a good idea.

Just thought of something---are you sure that your calipers are actually painted? I know the calipers on the Sport are painted silver, but I didn't know that the non-Sport calipers were painted also. Maybe its not paint, but the metal was stained by the wheel cleaner?

looks like it was painted because they were very shiny. they are made of iron, so i suspect they would look really dull if they had no paint coating. plus the parts that are painted have a much glossier and smoother texture than the parts that were worn off which are now rough and unsightly.
i'll take some pics tomorrow and report back. what could meguiars do for me? they'll just blame infiniti's low quality caliper paint and infiniti will blame meguiars.

We are very sorry to hear about this issue with this product on your factory brake calipers. We're assuming you used the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner in the purple bottle and not the Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner in the red bottle, right?
It seems that more and more manufacturers are finishing their calipers with some very delicate surface treatment, making it quite difficult to avoid overspray of any wheel cleaner onto them. We know that Chevrolet made a rolling change to the calipers on the Z06 Corvette - they used to be able to stand up to even our Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner ( our most potent wheel cleaner) when used on the factory chrome wheels on that car. But not any more. So that wheel cleaner is fine for the wheels themselves, but not the calipers any longer.
As for your calipers, we would ask that contact our Customer Care Center directly at 800-347-5700 - the person you talk to will ask that you email images of the damage to them, and they will pass along your contact info to our Quality Assurance Manager. Please call between 6:00AM - 5:00PM Pacific Time and mention that you have posted this to the forum and that I asked you to call.

Carbotech wheel cleaner
Best wheel cleaner I've ever used. It said paint friendly, so I even used it on some body panels to remove melted rubber....
Before (already sprayed on... the wheels were literally flat black before I sprayed from the brake dust; car is tracked)

Those calipers above do not look much different than yours. The calipers on your car are not painted in the way that they are on the sport brakes. They are coated to resist corrosion and heat. I do not think there is anything wrong with your calipers at all.

IMO, @ OP: Spray more on the calipers. The "discoloration" is probably the cleaner part of the caliper, while the rest is still caked with dust.
FWIW, on the pictures I posted, the brakes regularly see temperatures in the 2000 degree range. Most street cars will never see temps above 600.
