Small Chunks of White Paint on OB Coupe??

So the other day I walked around my car to check for marks/scratches and I noticed what looked like small chunks of white paint. It looked like I ran something over because it came in streaks of paint. I then decided to try and get them out with a microfiber towel and some cleaning thing I bought for the car. After washing the entire car I noticed instead of chunks of small white paint, it was now patches of smeared in white paint with scratch marks. I want to go to a body shop ASAP to fix this.. but are there any alternatives? Will try to post up pictures, but it will be hard to see..

**I just took pictures, and you can't really see them, so it would kind of be useless to post, but how should I get rid of these marks?

***I've been looking up items, but I don't know what to get. Do any of you recommend any products for polishing for getting scuff marks out? Or a rubbing compound? I want to fix it soon and want to try and avoid a body shop.

Bump... I need help with the cleaning process I should use detailing this type of s**t. If I can't fix it with some products, should I bring it to a detailer?

hmmm not sure how to approach this...I wish there were good pics of this, I'm just trying to imagine it from your description...

so is it scratches in the paint and the scratches have white in them? or is it just some foreign object on the paint?

either way, here are some ideas...

if it's just on the surface, this stuff will take it off. It works incredibly and will get any grime off the car that you have
Chemical Guys Grime Reaper A.P.C. - 16 oz | Detailed Image

if you are looking for more of a heavy cutting compound, try this
Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 - 32 oz | Detailed Image

check out their "detailing guide" or the "ask a pro" section on here as well as the DI website

I don't want to put a real heavy compound on it because I heard it takes away coating of the paint on the car? But anyways, it's very light scratches and they're white scuff marks in the middle. I was so pissed yesterday, but I want to avoid going to a detail shop. I also don't think it's grime anymore as I tried removing it and it didn't turn out so well =/. Now they're faint white scratches that gives me a headache everytime I look at it.

well ANY compound takes away a small part of the clear coat. that is how a compound works. Not just heavy cutting compounds, ANY.

But if the scratches are very superficial, then you can probably use a finishing polish like these

Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish (with Glaze fillers) - 16 oz | Detailed Image

Blackfire Finishing Polish formulated with Menzerna - 16 oz | Detailed Image

clay bar doesn't help with scratches in any way whatsoever.

A clay bar will actually make scratches look worse b/c it is taking out all the particulates on the paint. until you correct the scratches in the clear coat with compound/polish it will look worse than when you started

good point NoGood, I didn't mean to make it sound like you shouldn't clay at all...just that claying won't actually fix anything
