It looks like this right?
I finally remember to look at this, I don't have the sticker under the hood in my 2010

The problem is that if you ever had a wrech they could never put the scratch shield back on. Its only done at the factory.

agree! ScratchShield is a joke. Our 2009 G37x has many small scratches, and it's been 2 yrs of ownership. Still waiting for them to "heal", but hard to heal something when the paint is so thin, that any scratch goes into the paint & without good paint, you're doomed.y thin. I feel like a fool falling for the "self-healing" b.s. that the literature & salesman gave me. Should have known that if the car needed self-healing paint, then it must have thin paint and lousy clear coat. Our 1999 Audi is still as glossy as day 1 and no scratches! And we don't even have a garage....No more Infiniti's for us...or Nissan. And looking for a SUV now...

ScratchShield is a joke...NOT better to have than not to have. I have '09 G37x and it's covered with small swirls and scratches. Not one of them healed. I know the scratches can't go beyond the shield layer, but how many scratches stay on top of any clear coat? If they do, then you have one marvelous clear coat and I'll take that anyday over this horrible non-working idea.

Why do you think they stopped using it after one year? Doesn't work...

Right on, Alex. It's total bullcrap - our 2009 G37x is full of swirls (from ??) and light scratching - none of which ever healed!

My black obsidian 2009 FX35 has scratch shield clear coat and let me tell you this clear coat is no good at all!! First of scratch shield doesn't work. Never has and probably never will. My FX was full of swirls, scratches, etchings, you name it. The paint is really really soft too. Just wiping with a microfiber towel leaves behind micro-marring ( tiny scratches) in the clear coat. Mine was full of so many swirls that I had to buy a porter cable and polish the whole car to remove the swirling.

Actually you're better off without it. The negatives far outweigh any positives.

1. Last only 3 years
2. Can only repair an area once
3. PITA to repair/repaint or find a detailer that can polish it.
4. Can only repair light scratches which you could easily polish out anyway and get heavy scratches while your at it.

Better off just doing your own paint managment or having it done ever few years.

Try a nano tech scratch resistant coating (Opti-Coat, G|Tech, Aquartz, Nanoflex, etc)
