Cleaning My G37

Help, what is the best way to clean the interior of my 2009 G37. Want to keep it looking new? What is the best way to keep the leather seats clean without streaks? Thanks

Seats: Use a damp microfiber towel. If they're dirty, use a leather cleaner such as Leatherique or Zaino. Surf City's stuff isn't bad either, IMO.

Use a soft brush made for leather, or rub with another microfiber towel to remove soil. Your leather has a vinyl clear coat on it, so there is no need to use a leather-specific conditioner unless you want to. I find that most conditioners result in the leather getting dirty quicker the next time.

You can also use a vinyl conditioner (303 or similar) on the seats due to the coating.

Dash/door panels/etc.: Meg's Quick Interior Detailer can be used on everything from the dash to the Nav screen, and doesn't leave a shiny finish. It's my go-to product. If you need to clean these surfaces, a diluted APC or even diluted Woolite with water works well. I don't use a dressing, but if you want to, Meg's Natural Shine or 303 aren't as offensive as some of the others.

Carpet: Use a carpet brush to loosen dirt, and then vacuum, preferably with an attachment that has a beater brush. Make sure you vacuum the mats as well as the carpet underneath. If you have stains, use something like Folex to get them out.

Windows: Lots of options here. Invisible Glass is fine, Surf City makes a nice product, Meg's makes fine glass cleaners, etc. It's up to you. The most important thing is to wipe them down after spraying, and then go over them immediately with a dry towel to avoid streaking.

Wood: If you have it, a good sealant or AIO can make it look great and help hide or polish out light swirls. Wood finishes in cars are clear coated unless the car is very high end, so you can treat them similar to exterior paint finishes.

Hope that helps.

How about the exterior? What is the best way to dry the vehicle?

I use Zaino's car wash with a high quality mitt, and wash the mitt and air dry after each wash. Move the mitt back and forth in a single plane rather than making circles so you don't exaggerate any swirling. Dry with a high quality waffle weave microfiber towel - I use two to get it done. Dry the door jambs, etc. If you'd like, you can use compressed air or a leaf blower to help with drying.

Take the hozzle off the hose and sheet water over the car before drying to make it easier - much of the water will sheet off, and your towels will stay drier during the process.

Dry the wheels, dress them with something like Optimum Tire Gel (this stuff is AMAZING - just got it a few weeks ago and it lasts forever and is water-based). If you want to, seal the wheels with something like Zaino Clear Seal or another wipe and go sealant.

Take a look at Autopia.org or a similar site to find out what all the car care nuts like me do to keep their cars looking newer longer. Good luck.

I had Friday 4/2 off, and we got a glorious day in NJ. I did my entire car by hand, inside
and out... Took all afternoon. Used Poorboys World Leather Stuff on the inside and
Poorboys World Polish and Sealer (Orange) on the outside. That Polish and Sealer is really
good stuff... It clarifies the clearcoat. Almost like cleaning dirty lenses on your glasses.
I did half the hood and compared and the paint looked deeper/darker with super high luster. Anyway... My question with this car IS:

How do you close your doors on this car w/out touching the body or windows???
They put that nice handle on the inside of the trunk for closure, but tell me folks...
How do you close your doors w/out putting finger prints on your window or door???
Can't wait to hear these answers...

I close the door by pushing with one finger on the black trim below the window (right at the end of the door)...

I palm the edge of the door. Telekinesis would also work. If you know Yoda, you might want to hang with him for a week or two.

Probably best not to bother, or you'll get really ticked at the next person that gets in your car and leaves a big greasy handprint on the trim or door.
