Water stain under the hood, is this normal??

S.Cali has rained for some time and I've driven under light and harsh raining condition. I've took my car in for a normal maintenance service and discovered this.

When the service guy looked at it, he said this should not happen in any circumstance. When I asked the manager, he said this is just water stain and this is normal. I DO know that these are water stain from driving in the rain BUT is this normal? I did not know whether to trust the manager or is the service guy (not a mechanical guy, just a greeter) telling the truth? The car has a splash guard..

Should I take it to a different dealer? If this is not normal under any circumstance, I have a great feeling that this manager is just lying to my face.

Yes genius you should. Possibly take it to another Infiniti dealer and tell him you want to know if this is normal...... If you KNOW that the manager is lying, then why hesitate to argue? Your car needs help and reassurance wont do anything. So find out from another dealer if this is normal or not, and then go beat the fukc out of the dumb@$$ manager who told you that.beathorse

That's not the car's fault, don't take it to a dealership because it's not a defect. It's grime that somehow got splashed on there from above while the hood was up. Is there a splash in the corresponding place on the underside of the hood? It appears to have been splashed laterally from the passenger side. It can't have come from below because there is a huge splash guard that runs all the way aft of the engine. Clean that, the rest of the grime, and the chalky white stains on your engine cover and radiator shroud off of there and detail your engine bay. Your upper radiator hose is an embarrassment. You need a detailer, not a dealership.

Looks like someone spilled their Starbucks on it.

It looks like it came from the side and from above which would not seem to imply it happened with the hood closed. From my experience driving highway speeds with post snow/salt road mist I do see a small amount of dirty wet stains coming from the small holes at the top of the radiator cover which I would call normal since it's not a boat.

Thanks for the response. Nobody drives this car except me so I know that the hood was never on. I am a bit confused now.

Then you better watch who's messing with your car. That came from the top of your engine on the passenger side, not the bottom. It's not possible for it to have come from underneath. Look at it. Your entire engine bay is pretty dirty. What's that white stain on your cover?

It's mud. It looks like it came from underneath and splashed through the top. I could be wrong.

Doesn't look like it came from the bottom, there should be no way. Check your under body to see if anything's missing. I think it came from the top, maybe the edge.

Don't think it's a big deal, just need to be cleaned. If you're really concerned, take it to Cerritos Infiniti and ask for April. Excellent service.

Looks like power steering either leaked-or someone spilled fluid topping it up.
