sand paper-like scratches

hello all...i got some major scratches (surface, not deep like a key) that look as if someone took sand paper to the hood and side panels. since it's not deep, i was thinking maybe there is something out there that will buff it out. some parts are pretty white faded which looks as if it took the paint off. any suggestion on off-the-shelf type products? does clay help at all with this type of stuff?

newbie with the G and don't want to screw it up any further. thanks for any help...

First try Meguiars Scratch-X... If it doesn't work, you may need a more aggressive compound with an orbital buffer.
