Wet sand then compound, I need some more compound? Detailers take a look.

I noticed a little bit of overspray and some weird dusty stuff on my lip, so today i had it wet-sanded then it had the "matte" look, then laid down some compound to get its "glossiness" back, but the dude forgot to lay some compound down at the front end lower part of the lip and its all "matte" looking now, which compound should i get to get the glossy-ness back? and can i apply it by hand? thanks, I'll get a picture up if needed.

I prefer Menzerna products which are expensive and you wont be able to buy the amount you need. If I were you I would get Meguiars M105 which is ultra cut compound and finish it off with m205 which is ultra finishing compound.

Before using compound be sure that "the dude" wet sanded with at least 1,500 grit or finer.

Don't think you can get the paint back to perfect by hand (or, should I say, without tearing your arm off). Also, compounding the paint may not bring back the gloss. After wet sanding, you will typically need to apply a compound and then a finishing polish to get back to the true glossy finish you want.

I would take it back to the guy who forgot to polish it.

Any pics? I'd have to agree with gthal, take it back to the dude who didn't finish the job.

next time, use a clay bar to get off overspray and other contaminants in the paint.

I will post some pics if i can get some decent shots, Thing is its a hassle for me to go back and fourth to the shop in Brooklyn, reason why i choose to do it at home otherwise ill let my detailer handle it on my next visit.

I did that once....well I tried to. I detailed a car once that had like tons of overspray on the rear bumper and I removed like a 5x5 inch area with clay bar and gave up. Its like trying to polish a car by hand. That was a while back, maybe I did something wrong but thats how I recall it now.

But yea +1 about taking it back to that guy, or better just letting your detailer handle it becuase that guy messed up once he can mess up again.
