2009 G37S - Liquid Metal Grey... 1st Detail

As some will know, I traded my 2008 Ivory Pearl 5AT for a 2009 Liquid Metal Grey (Amethyst Graphite in the US) 6MT. I detailed the car this weekend for the first time... lot's of fun . Thought I would post pics...

Process:

1. Washed car
2. Clayed car (needed it badly)
3. Re-washed
4. The car had some minor swirls so I polished with Menzerna PO203 on a white LCC pad with the PC.
4. 50/50 Isopropyl alcohol wipe down
5. Applied Jeffs Werkstat Prime Strong via black LCC pad and PC.
6. 2 coats of Jeffs Werkstat Acryllic Jett Trigger
7. P21S wax to add a little depth

I'm very happy with the 7 hours of work (my wife less so considering the time I spent ). This car has the self healing clear coat and I had no issues as all with polishing it. Results were as expected. Having said that, it was a medium/mild polish... can't say what the result would be with a compound or more aggressive polish/pad combo.

I have to say that I LOVE this color. I had the IP G37s before this and a white BMW 328i. It was time for a color change and this color is amazing... sometimes it looks deep grey, other times it looks to have a purple hue... it changes with the light. I love it.

Nice job! Way to be brave and polish the self-healing clearcoat!!! I think you're one of the first on here to try it.
On a separate note, didn't you get royally screwed and upside down on your trade-in value of the 2008 for the 2009???? That's really ballsy. You must have wanted that 6MT BAD!

It's funny how many times I have been asked this

Actually, the stars aligned for me on this and the deal was pretty good. I bought the '08 at the very end of last year so I got a really good deal. When I traded for the '09, the dealer gave me a pretty good price on the trade... very close to what I owed on it (within a couple of grand).

With the lower financing rate (1.9%) and the fact that g37s actually DROPPED in price for the '09 year in Canada, my monthly payment is about $30/mth lower than on the '08. Go figure...

Well that's awesome! I really think AG/PG are both VERY sharp colors for our cars. Yes they're one of the more common colors (dark gray), but there's a reason....it looks good as hell!
