I'm really upset about this. I parked my car at work. Come out after an 8 hour day and find some nasty brown bird droppings on it. I didn't think much of it. As soon as I arrived home, I grabbed the Quick Detailer and a microfiber towel.

To my surprise, there was one dark spot on my hood, about the size of a half dollar that was really caked on there. Must have been from the direct sunlight on the black paint. I let it soak for a while and it still wouldn't budge. Like an idiot, I used my fingernail through the towel. It came off, but left a couple scratches.

I cleaned the area really well and noticed that the surface area appears to have tiny wrinkles or cracks in it. I suppose this is etching? I then spent about a half hour using the Meguiar's 3 step kit (cleaner, polisher, tech wax) with my buffer and 6 microfiber bonnets. It really didn't help.

For reference, the weekend before this happened, I spent an 8 hour day cleaning, polishing and waxing the car. Meguiar's cleaner - polisher - tech wax.

How screwed am I? It looks like someone spilled nail polish remover on my hood.

I have that on my trunk, but a smaller amount.. i spoke to a detailer, and its possible to get it removed. Probably gotta use a machine or something though, birds are mean.

I have that all over my car, I compound most of it out but in the sun you can still see it. This paint sucks.

i got mine off with a auto-magic clay bar. It was hard work but it came off =).

It looks pretty bad to me, the clear coat looks like it has permanent damage.
Post again in the future to let others know if it came out or not (completely, & without a trace in ALL lighting conditions) with a more aggressive rubbing compound type polish job. People need to realize just how potent acidic bird poop can be.
Try to never park underneath light poles or trees, I'll take a few UV rays evenly distributed over the entire car over that type of damage any day.
If you just have to, atleast check the ground where you'll be parking. If you see any bird poop or nasty stuff from the tree there, pick another spot.
It takes diligence and/or lot's of luck to keep the paint damage free.

Sorry dude...that sucks. Having a Black G37 myself I know that birds tend to prefer our color when it comes to dropping turds.

Whenever I get it on my car and cannot immediately wash it off, I use a product called Fast Wax. It comes in an aerosol can, and I have been able to remove the poop the few times it has happened to me.

I just keep a can of it in my trunk along with a soft chamois, spray a little bit on the affected area, and rub it very gently until it comes off. It also leaves your car feeling teflon smooth.

Hopefully no permenant damage done.

A clay bar worked for me, Removed it clean, although i didn't let it sit for a while. I wouldn't suggest leaving the poop there for a good while, As soon you see it, clean it off asap.

The acids in the **** etched the clearcoat. I've never seen anything like this corrected without some sort of paint/clear coating.

I talked to my brother in law who is an awesome detailer. He said rubbing compound isn't going to cut it. That it needs to be wetsanded with some 1500 or 2000 grit, then polished really well with some 3M medium cut polish.

I'm scared of putting paper against the clear. Anyone try something like this?

Never tried it but I do know it can cause a lot of damage if you don't know what exactly you are doing. To take away the sand marks, for best results you will have to use a rotary buffer, which can burn your paint if you don't know what youare doing. Wow, that's a great link. I'm going to bite the bullet and try the M105 out. I've always been a fan of Meguiar's stuff.
