"When using M105 by hand to remove defects you would start out with firm pressure, working an area about 1 foot square or smaller and about 50 seconds to a minute into the process you would lighten your pressure up and re-rub out the section with less pressure.

If you're seeing any hazing after using M105 then chase it with ScratchX.

It's vitally important that your foam applicators are clean. Just to note, it's possible that M105 could not finish out totally clear but to date it's never happened when I've used in on any paint system, so good technique is a must"

Just make sure you are using proper technique to get the best results. I believe they have a link on how to work by hand

Thanks, lmulion, that's also very helpful. I'm kind of excited to give this a shot.

If it works on a spot this bad, it'll be helpful to those in our community who encounter a similar problem.

STOOF - I'm not sure what that bird ate, but his a** must have been on fire that day.

I had some horrendous bird crap etchings on my BO just like yours. I had to clay/compound/polish and it was still a little bit visible, but you really had to be looking for it. I recently clayed/polished again and it is completely gone.

My process:
1st time - clay/compound-yellow pad/cutting polish-orange pad/finishing polish-white pad with 4" pads and PC.
2nd time - clay/cutting polish-orange pad/finishing polish-white pad with 6.5" pads and Flex.

I used quite a bit of pressure the first time while compounding and got a lot of hazing that I had to polish out.

Either the poo wasn't acidic or you have the self healing paint?

No self healing clearcoat and I wiped off the bird residue, but it left a mark. Couldn't take it off after wash, quick detailer, even tried to claybar it. It was still there. It's strange.

I'm very doubtful that you will be able to get rid of acid etchings from bird poo without machine polishing. If anyone is able to do so, please take pics and tell us how you did it. My guess is that as soft as the clear coat is, you will do more damage than correction.

I agree - I just can't seem to find the etching. I've looked at the paint directly when the sun is glaring at it and in shade. I can't seem to find it. I just find it strange. I was about to use m105 by hand but decided not to since I couldn't find it anymore. I was able to see it for a few weeks (about 2 or so) and then nothing.

Same thing happened with me--bird crap sat on the car all day while I was at work, I removed it but it seemed to have messed up the clearcoat, but after a week or so it was gone. I figured it had something to do with the self-healing clearcoat as I have an 09 BO sedan.

Well, my fiance's 08 BO had some crap on it a couple days after I discovered the etching on mine. I flipped and washed it off immediately. It seemed to have left a small stain where it was, but just like some of you guys mention, I went back the next day and it was gone.

I wish mine would disappear.

A little bit of vinegar and water mix, some elbow grease, and a good cleaner wax will clean that right up.

Be sure to reapply wax after you are done.

Try using some Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0.. it took out my bird dropping thing that looked like yours after two wipes.

It worked!! I applied M105 by hand using a foam applicator. I used firm pressure for the first minute, then gradually eased pressure for about another minute.

Chased it with some Scratch X 2.0 on a different foam pad. Results are perfect. I'm so happy.
