Meguiar NXT
#2
I still use meguars NXT but that's because I bought it when I just got my G in August and my G has been garaged since December so I have a lot left. My advice would be get some stuff from detailedimage.com They have way more better products than the basics you find at your local walmart and auto stores. I'm planning on upgrading all of my old detail equipment pretty soon and getting a package load from detailed image.

NXT isn't a bad product for a synthetic wax.....it REALLLLLLY doesn't last long though. I would advise using a paint SEALANT (like Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket). Documented protection for 4-6 months (depending on driving habits/conditions). A little pricey for one bottle....but it lasts a LONG time. If you really want added depth/shine, you can layer a good quality carnauba wax on top of the sealant. Check out www.detailedimage.com for more products. I think Menzerna FMJ is on sale right now as a matter of fact!!!

Sorry, I misread it. I thought you were asking if you could substitute NXT for 106FF. I highly doubt 106FF will be enough to remove swirls using the PC. 106FF is a light cut/ finishing polish designed to jewel or burnish the surface to increase gloss. It really isnt mean to REMOVE imperfections. 106 should be used with a finishing pad (a pad with little to no cut). SIP is a moderate cutting polish and would be a better choice to remove imperfections. SIP would be used with a cutting or polishing pad. If you need something stronger than you would have to step up to a compound. Hope that helps.

Yes, try the PO106FF to remove your swirls and if it doesn't do the job well enough for you then get something with more cut. It really depends on how bad the swirls are. If you need something with more cut try SIP.

I dont really know how to judge a bad swirl vs a good once. All I can say is glazes conceal maybe 20 percent of the swirls intensity and that they are only visble under sunlight.

Try your best to get them out with the polish you have. If you still have minor swirls, the NXT may do a good job of hiding them, I've never used it personally. If you aren't happy with the results, order the stronger cutting polish and maybe some good glaze to hide them well. Chemical Guyys EZ Creme Glaze is awesome and it has a great shine. I just got an email from DI that all CG products are on sale 20% off for the next few days.

NXT is decent wax for an "off the shelf" wax. It has pretty good shine and actually really good durability. Is there better on the market? Absolutely.
PO106ff should be your start for removing swirls. You always want to start with a lower cut and move to a more intensive cut if necessary. As BB mentioned, start with PO106ff and move to SIP if necessary.
Menzerna FTG is a filling glaze. As mentioned, it will fill about 20% of the imperfection to reduce the visibility of it. It does a great job and I recommend it on dark color cars.

The reason i am asking about NXT is because a friend of mine has it an is willing to give it to me because he bought PBW wax.
Do you guys use an orbital buffer to apply a wax? If so what speed and do you guys follow a pattern or do you add linearly.

I have a question as well. Sorry to hi-jack your thread.
I'm trying to finish my NXT as well before i buy a carnauba wax for my IP. I just bought the Menzerna FMJ from detailed image since it's on sale. My question is, when can i apply the NXT or any kind of wax after the FMJ? Can i do it right one after the other or do i have to wait until the next day?
