Urgent Advice needed for body detailing
Hi All,
Recently I was hit from behind and needed to have the bumper replaced as it was cracked. Took the car to the dealership and had the bumper replaced and repainted. As you can see the color matching isn't perfect due to a number of reasons. From some angles the color is perfect but at others the shade is just all wrong (not metallic (silvery) enough).
The guys from the body shop at the dealership have explained to me that this is known as 'flop' and that it would be all but impossible to fix. I did expect some color differences but this is far outside the realm of what I think I should accept.
Now I'm not well versed in body shop repairs and need some advice on how I should proceed. Thus far they have even offered to paint the rear quarter panels and blend the color back to the doors to achieve a seamless look.
My question is this, -- Should I have them retry on another bumper for a more seamless look (this suggestion seems to getting some resistance from them) or should I have them repaint the bumper and blend the color back to the doors? I'm under the impression that putting paint on the vehicle is an instant negative and should be avoided at all cost (If I'm wrong here please let me know).
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

+1. That's an EPIC FAILURE of a body shop saying that matches. Don't let them pull that "a plastic bumper will not hold the same shade as metal" crap. Demand it be re-painted or threaten to bring your lawyer down to the body shop.

Nope, that car is PG for sure....LP is MUCH brighter. They just fvcked up the color match. However....on 2nd glance....maybe the bumper looks more like AG?? There IS a purple note to the gray.....I bet that's it!

Belive it or not from some angles ie looking directly from the back or looking flush on the side the color looks spot on. Its only from certain angles it looks as badly as it does.
So I'm guessing its a no on getting the body painted as well then?
The color is PG.

This would be a long long post if I tried to describe what little I know about color matching paint. Do a quick google search of "matched paint angles" and do some reading. If you do enough reading you will find out that looking straight on at paint yields one color while looking at an angle can yield others. It has to do with all kinds of things like what's in the paint to texture. A really good painter will go spray multiple samples and take it outside with the vehicle to compare. There is a certain word they use for this angle effect but I forgot what it is.
Bottom line, the guy who painted your car is lazy and didn't match it right.
