I forget where I read on here that you can't claybar the new paint. Why? The car feels drastically different after being claybarred. Also, what polish can and can't you use? Is stuff like Zaino safe?

believe it was mike@riverside or 1 of the other infiniti guys mentioned that using a polisher/orbital on the paint will get rid of it. from what ive been told, its just a thicker, softer clear coat that heals with the heat of the sun. seems kind of lame if you all you can really do it hand wax it.

yeah, i'd be scared to use an abrasive polish on the self healing paint.

Well if the paint is supposed to hear itself you wouldn't need to "polish" it, so all you'd need to do is wax it occassionally by hand which is typical.

I also understand that the self healing qualities only last about 3 years.

I had no idea claybarring did so much until I claybarred my brand new BMW that had allegedly been claybarred by the dealer. Even on a new car it made a huge difference. Although I guess I did it on my G35 and couldn't believe how much little stuff it got off that I would never have gotten off with all the washing I wanted.

I'd ask my dealer about this, but something tells my my sales guy would have no clue. I could be wrong though... Maybe he'd have a clue.

It would be great if we could find it documented somewhere. Is it in the manual?

Although I've seen people on here who have it on their FX say that there are still swirls.
