Question Touch-up paint for Sport 19" wheels?

Hi All,

Has anyone found a touch-up paint that provides a good match fo the 19" Sport wheels? I've bought 3 or 4 similar colors from the auto parts stores that are close, but none quite match, even with a shot of clear coat.

Thanks,

Tony

I helped a neighbor touch up his G37 wheels and the best match we found was:

Rustoleum Metallic Spray - Silver Metallic (Color Code: 7278830 - Silver Metallic)

http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=30

You can get it at Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, etc...

Thanks Blackjack!

I've tried several of the Dupli-Color silvers that look like they have a bit of sand / gold / beige tint to them, and none has been really close. I'll give the rustoleum a try!

Did "exhaustive research" lead you there, or did you just happen to have some lying around?

And your neighbor has a G37 as well? Did one of you get to have the only one around for a while for a while at least?

Thanks again,

Tony

No problem. We picked up 5 or 6 cans of stuff and that's what worked best.

My neighbor did have a G37 as well. He got his about 2 months after I did. He no longer lives here though.

So you're back to "the only game in town"

I'm in Western CT, and they're still quite rare around here, for some reason? I guess once the X is out, I'll see more, but I bet I haven't passed 6 cars since getting mine in March.

Thanks again,
Tony

In my neighborhood, yes... I'm the only one and there's not too many near me. If I go closer to Atlanta (where I work) I see more, but I still get all the looks out on my side of town. I still get approach by some people that don't even know what it is.

Does it only come in a can? Want to get a small amount at least to hide the black from my curb rash.

I think so... That's what I used it for. We just touched up the road rash on his car. We taped the area off with blue painters tape and put some sheets over the car and it worked just great.

Hi All,

I got what appears to be a small streak of black paint on the outer edges of one of my rim spoke. I don't know where I got it nor do I know whether this is what you guys are referring to as "road rash"

Any how I'll keep an eye out for the suggested Rustoleum paint.

I do have a question:

I was thinking of applying some paint thinner on the affacted area prior to actually puting on the Rustoleum paint, to get rid of the black paint-like thing.

What do you guys think about that idea???

Thanks in advance.

When we refer to road rash we're often referring to someone "curbing" their rim by rubbing it up against a curb in a parking lot on accident.

In your case, it kinda depends on what the black stuff is. I wouldn't paint i unless you absolutely cannot remove. Beware of harsh chemicals trying to remove it though as you can easily damage the factory clear coat finish on the wheels.

What year is this? I tried the Rustoleum on my 08 sport rims... it does NOT match... bummer.

Update: cleaned everything up and used Rustoleum Universal Titanium Silver... looks perfect.

COLOR: 245220 - Titanium Silver

The sport rims and the awd rims are the same color right? If I spray it on to test the color and it don't match, do I just use paint thinner to remove it?

Thanks. Looking forward to repair my wheels.

Did anyone find something that matches well?

I tried the Rust Oleum 245220 - Titanium Silver that was mentined a couple posts up. To me it's not even close. It is super sparkly metallic which I don't find the 08 Sport Coupe Wheels to be.

Does anyone know if this one is any better?
7271830 - Silver Metallic.

Anyone have pics or other recommendations?
