Dealing with Washi scratches
Hi everyone! Well I am the proud owner of a new G37 MT-6 with all the toys. While I really wanted a car with wood trim I came to terms with the stuff they force sport owners to take. Well after one week I lightly bumped the door pull with my watch leaving a white scratch mark that I cannot remove. Has anyone played with a fix for this problem? I'm sure everyone has scratched this cheap stuff somewhere. Other than that the car is a total joy!!

As far as i know there is nothing to do about it... it SUCKS doesnt it... :/ Best bet is to buy new door handles and try to put like an overlay over them or something

Actually, I had my car on a weekend test drive before I bought as I was trying to deside if I really wanted the manual - I noticed a similar scratch the next morning but thought I had just missed it when I picked up the car. When I went back on Monday I told them to replace the door handle and I would take that car - they did and now I have scrathced it again! its only about a 1/4" but geez! Infiniti, if your listening that trim sucks! By the way I tried some polishing compound on the first scratch with no result.

i did it to mine too, convinced my dealership to replace it for free and I'm just waiting for the part to come in. I'll probably just put something over it to prevent that from happening again.

As far as the problem with the door handle things goes.. my G37S still has that plastic film thing covering it.. Im so paranoid i dont even wear hoodies or sweaters with zippers in the car anymore
Solution to the problem you ask? Next time you take your car in for service, act like one of the mechanics scratched it and demand they give you a new door or handle or something

Just to be clear, the washi trim (looks like japanese paper pattern on the dash, and inlays in the door) seem very durable on my car.
The dull aluminum color door handle pulls on the other hand are completely scratched up after only 7000 miles Some sort of protective film would really be helpful.

yea that must be an overlay... which is still cool... The problem with making them real CF is that it would make the car smell from the resin thats used whenever the car got hot...
