They Kissed my Bumper!!!

Driving down Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. A stupid chick kissed my bumper.
Yup she did.

I got some black swirls from her bumper, and a half an inch in length and 3 centimeter wide chip. Not big, although it looks black, cuz it chipped to the metal.

I have a question.
Should I get this buffed out, and try to fix the chip with touch up paint. Or should I have a body shop repaint the whole bumper. My biggest concern is the color matching, if I get it repainted. I have an Ivory Pearl G37.

What are your guys experience with coloring matching an Ivory Pearl.
*Is it worth the try?
*Will it be an obvious mis-match?
*Does this depend on the quality of the shop I take my car to?
*Quality of paint?

Please advise.
I'm planning on getting estimates today.

thanks for your info

believe it or not - a stupid lil kid drove his power wheels into my front bumper and created a small nick/indentation in the paint. hardly noticebale to anyone except me. I had it repainted for just $320 (out of the lil buggers parents' pocket of course) at a reputable shop that specialized in imports and stuff. I love the job they did. We have a great car and it just aint worth it to touch it up. did u get her insurance info? If I were you I would get it repainted rather than mess with touch up and all that. u wont be able to get it perfect.

I got her insurance information, INDEED!

She had the audacity to tell me "I am so sorry, I am late to going to the club, and I turned my head for a split second."

So I am going to look for a reputable shop here in LA. Does anyone have any recommendations. I live in East LA, but willing to drive anywhere.

Any other suggestions, on how well they will be able to match the Ivory Pearl?
Thanks:DetroitG37Joe

Try Marco's Auto Body. Several locations including Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Pasadena, Alhambra, Arcadia. Find the location nearest you at

I had a 4 month old car rear-ended a 5 years ago... they did a phenomenal job on the repair and paint and to this day, you'd never know it had any work done to it.

Cool. I will try that.

I just got my first estimate. $640......I went to a dealer that I had gone to before. Again, my main concern is them being able to match the Ivory Pearl.

was she at least hot?

look around...there are lots of places where you can get a bumper painted for below $400.

or you can just have a shop spot paint...if they do a good job it's hard to notice.

Nah. She wasn't hot. I would've had her repay me right there and then if she was.

I am taking my car elsewhere for another estimate. I called about the first estimate and she flipped. She said she knows of a place, but I don't wanna go thru her. I want to make sure they color match as close as possible, at a reputable place. He deductible is $500, so she was willing to make the claim.

I went to http://www.marcosautobody.com/locations.html and they quoted me $1272.17. This guy was talking about putting a whole new bumper in. Is a higher price mean a better job, or they are just juicing it?

Two totally different prices. Weird

Honestly they should be pulling the paint from your vin number bro so they use the same paint color and finish as used by Infiniti. No good shop would just mix up a paint and eyeball it. My Obsidian black paint on the front bumper from the nick I got matched excellent they used the paint code based on the VIN number and I have observed it in the light to see the lil metallic sparkles and there is no difference detectable by the naked eye.

Also make sure to not wash the painted area of ur car for a few weeks. Tell your shop to not give it a wash either. the finish of many paints are a bit vulnerable for a while after being painted.

that's too much. although you can claim it then grab the check from her insurance and just get it done for $500 at another place...and get to keep $772.17...lol

For those who think "all" club girls are hot, obviously never been to a club. At the clubs i've been to, I would say only 25% of the chicks are hot. the rest are just butter faces, chubby chicks. Some have way too much makeup, and yes, its always the ugly fat who are hating.

I remember one time i was moving around working my way up to a bar, i accidently brushed against some girl, and that bltch screamed to her BF, "that guy tried to grab my hands".

I turned around, and just looked at her and said, "you ****ing serious?".. then i looked at her BF and we both shook our heads and walked away..

and yes, that bitch and dressed really skanky, but her face was torture..

Did the guy at Marco's actually see the car or was he quoting sight unseen? The quote sounds a little high to me, but if sight unseen, you have to expect they're going to quote high since it's easier to adjust the quote down than to have to come back and say, gee, there's more to it than with thought and the new price is....
