I personally haven't used a california duster, and I never will. I use Poor Boys Spray & Wipe along with several MF towels.

I ordered one from Amazon today. I'll give it a try and just be real careful.

I'm in the same boat as Shane. This is what I've found to be the best way to minimize adding imperfections to the paint. Spray & Wipe has a bunch of cleaning agents that help encapsulate contamination and lubricate the surface for mar free cleaning.

have someone polish it & remove the swirls and put a few layers of sealant on

then just use a quick detailer to keep it up if it's only dust

if it's more than just dust, give it a wash or use something like spray & wipe or no rinse

I have been using the California Duster on my car for about a month now and kinda starting to see swirls in the paint. They are light swirls, but I don't know if this is do to the duster or just wear n tear on a black car. Not to mention that I only use the duster a couple of times after the wash. It doesn't take much on get a black car dusty but a couple of hours.
