Vancouver BC G's - How much does your Insurance cost? Curiosity average count.

Hey guys, I know there was a thread on this already, but mostly it was down in the states for insurance. But i know in vancouver it is totally different.

Insurance right now I'm paying for my g37s coupe is 3454$. Comparing to my last vehicle it seems kind of high,

Just wondering what you other G's in vancouver out there, pay for insurance, ? really would like to know. Thanks guys !!

To go with the type of coverage, perhaps stating your (approximate) age, years driving and driving record could help make some sense of the numbers. So many variables.

$1 million liability and $500 deductible. Male, late 40's, driving driving over 30years, and no accidents/claims.
I live in Ontario (I know..not the location you're asking for) and pay $969/year, tax incl.

$1600 a year for me. Full coverage with ICBC, more than 15kms commute (15.5kms!). Lowest deductibles all around ($300), $3MM 3rd party. Safe driver discount, very few tix, very few claims, 10+ years driving. Married, professional, spouse also 10+ years and a safe driver with ICBC.

I investigated the private insurers for the optional coverages but ICBC was better in terms of premiums. I may look around again just to see if that has changed.

Very similar to Canucklehead for situation. $1677 for combo of private & ICBC. Private was slightly cheaper than ICBC, however that may have been since I have my house insurance with them as well.

^ lol. No, it's formulaic. Age, experience, gender, driving record etc. The computer spits out a number which is primarily based on the driver, and not the car. It's the driver that is the risk, not the car. Cars don't crash, drivers do.

Yes, insurers can upsell you though. Most will try. Unnecessary coverage and add ons are common place with insurance. So many people are over insured and dont even realize it. Make sure you have the coverage that best suits your needs.

I'm surprised you only have a 15% discount at 21. I had 33% discount by then. Have you made collision claims? That would lower your discount.

Being a young driver hurts you for sure. But at 21 if you are able to afford a g37 I wouldn't complain too much, it seems life is going peachy for you so far! I owned an old and well worn 1984 jetta gli at that age...

^ The type of car you tell them that you will primarily drive will have a bearing on the rate. Should it?...I don't think so but it does. Not any more than I believe sex should have a bearing on the rate but it also does...especially for young drivers. I say, classify me by my existing driving record and not by what others have done (in other words, screwed up) before me.
As for the car to drive, they look at historical records for the vehicle with regards to theft, accidents and cost of repairs.
My wife, (4 years younger, 28 years of insured driving, one minor fender bender type of accident 10 years ago) pays $200 more than I do for a 2011 Civic with the same coverage. Go figure.

I just upped my liability insurance to 5 mil - apparently the courts have started awarding way higher payouts than previously and I didn't figure I would like losing my house to pay out a claim. That said my insurance went up to $1453 on my 2012 G37X. I have the 43% discount with ICBC and use private insurance for the non-basic stuff. No tickets in 20 years and no at fault claims ever. I just turned 40 last month.

Its all right, and no actaully I have not made collision claims from what I recall, is it too late to do it ? , insurance can be reall complicated when it comes to this .
