G37s Winter tire questions
Hi new G37 owner here glad to have found a great online community for this amazing vehicle.
I had posted this in the general G37 Coupe forum but did not get many responses. I figured my Canadian brothers\sisters would have more knowledge on this subject!
I ended up buying the G37s at the beginning of this month. (Blue Slate, absolutely love the car).
I'm looking for some advice on buying some new rubbers for my first winter in the 37s. (No stranger to rear wheel drive MT in the snow, I drove a 1990 toyota pickup 5MT with FAR less weight on the rear wheels for 7 years in Alberta winters.)
I have been reading and researching for the past few days and there seems to be two ways most people go.
1. run 225/45r19 and 245/40r19 on the stock sport rims
2. buy 18inch rims and run something like 245/45r18 all around
Since I will be buying some 20inch Vossen's come spring I think that I am ok with making my OEM rims my winter set.
Couple of questions:
1. I found a good deal on 4x 225/45/r19 blizzaks (95% thread $650 for all 4, local sale); could I run this on my stock rims in a non staggered configuration? If this is possible would you recommend spacing the rears so they don't look off?
2. Would running this configuration interfere with VDC or ABS?
3. Pro vs Cons on 19 versus 18 besides tire cost higher on 19? Anything else to consider?
If I end up going with the staggered configuration it will cost me 1200 as the guy will not split his 4 225/45s up and will have to buy new.
Thanks for reading and giving a newbie 37 owner some advice!

people usually run 225/50/18 for the winter. 245 are just too wide and does not bite in the snow nearly as good as 225. Running 225 all around would not interfere with your VDC or ABS at all. yes those 19inch snows will work with your stock wheels. The only concern is when you mount the tires on the rear wheel. They will stretch and the rim protector on the sidewall of the tires can no longer protect your wheels. 650 for almost new Blizzaks are such a good deal it is hard to pass. Even 18inch Blizzak will cost more the 1000 new.

stick to the above suggestions. 225/50/18 all around on a dedicated winter set up is the way to go for you in AB. one of the main reasons for going with 18's is to get more sidewall. a 50 series tire is better suited to winter weather than a 40/45. you don't need staggered in the winter - your primary interest is grip and safety.
as far as visuals go, don't bother with spacers for winter set up. you don't go for aesthetics with winter tread, it's much more of a practical purpose.

I'm running Blizzacks, 245/45/19 all around... have no problems at all, although i'm in Toronto and we've only had 2 snowfalls that really even warranted getting snow tires IMO. Rear end slips out just a little with VDC on and i've never been stuck in snow yet... VDC off, forget it... sliding everywhere, mad fun in an empty parking lot!

get the used set if you haven't already.
95% thread life left is a great deal for $650 and you can probly talk the seller down few more $$. i'm running staggered winters on my stock 19s and I was lucky enough to find a pair of used tires from my rear for $250.
