I have put together an extended Road trip (tentatively June 13th - 23rd) to Waterton, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. The timing is to avoid the normal summertime congestion on roads. The total trip is about 4250km over 8.5 days driving, and 2.5 days spent in Waterton, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
Other Highlights of the trip will include Crowsnest Pass Hwy 3, Crowsnest Pass, Hillcrest Slide, Road to Sun pass, Grand Teton N.P., Craters of the Moon N.P. Grand Coulee Dam, Numerous National Forests and night in Winthrop.
The Road trip can be undertaken in any vehicle as it is a lot of time spent in the car. It is not a Race or a rally or speed trial, but an opportunity again to see other parts of the Western USA and Canada.
The expected costs are : Fuel $500 : Hotel Costs $900 : Park Entrances : $100 : Food Costs : $500/person. I have chosen overnight locations to find optimum /reasonable priced hotels but in the Park areas are significantly higher.
The Normal day would be 8:00-8:30am start so that the pace can be liesurely and roadside attractions can be viewed, and it is planned that the day would end by 4:30 - 5:00pm so that libation and socializing can be enjoyed before supper.
The Road trip map is seen on Westcoast Roadrunners Club 2011 - Google Maps
