oh yeah, the quote from the dealer will probably be around $600-800 CDN, as it will involve repainting the corner of the bumper, and blending the bumper, fender and hood.

you should also check your rims to make sure they're not scuffed as well.

I would go get different quotes from shops you trust and ask him to pay the full amount for repairs. If he refuses and chooses to go through insurance, make sure you mention to him that his insurance premiums will increase because he's at fault and he'll have to pay that increase year over year. Convince him that at the end of the day, paying you the $500 or $800 or whatever is the cheaper option, unless you have a very low deductable... in which case, to hell with him, just go through insurance.

For those who don't know, we have "no-fault" auto insurance policy over here in Ontario. What no-fault actually means is if you are injured in an accident or your vehicle is damaged, then you deal with your own insurance company when making a claim, regardless of who is at-fault for causing the accident. And it is illegal to drive without insurance here as well.
