1. Why isn't 225/45/R18 an ideal size? Isn't that what the stock Bridgestone Potenza Summer Tires are?
2. Are you saying that Blizzak LM-25's are only avail. in 225/50R18? The Infiniti Dealer Parts Department seems to think the proper size Blizzak LM-25's for my G are 225/45R18's for front and 245/45/R18's for the rear?

Front Tire Size: 225/45R19
Rear Tire Size: 245/40R19
Use this tire calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Now enter the 225/45R19 size into the tire calculator on the left side
On the right side, try entering the following sizes and you'll see the % difference from the OEM circumference:
225/50R18 - 0.4% too fast (18" size recommended by Tirerack...in this size, only the Blizzak LM-25's are available)
235/50R18 - 1% too slow (18" size recommended by my local shops...in this size, you have a choice of Blizzak LM-25's, Hankook W300's, Pirelli Carving Edge, etc...lots of selection in this size)
225/45R18 - 3.7% too fast (most G35's had this size)
I'm not sure why Infiniti would recommend staggering the tire size for winter tires, especially the 245's for the rear.
IMO, I'd prefer to have 225 all around, so the tire width is narrower and won't have to push through as much snow.

Nothing wrong with 225 on all 4 corners. Helps cut through the snow. Staggered setup is great in the summer, but in the winter, your not exactly whipping around.

Rusty (& others),
Just spoke to Infiniti dealership again regarding why they recommended a staggered set-up of 225/45R18's in front and 245/45R18's in the rear and they said that is what Infiniti has told them to put on all "Sport" models. Whereas, they said, the regular G37 can have all 4 the same all around but for the G37"S" they should be staggered. He said the "S" is set-up differently then the regular G's... Food for thought...

Staggered setups are to add traction to high power rear wheel drive cars. Plain and simple. Why only on the sport when it's the same motor? Cause it looks better.
