13' G37x with 58k for $15.5k or 13' with 105k for $11k

Hey all,

I've been on the hunt for a 13' G37x for a few months and have come to this board a few times for advice, and am looking for suggestions/feedback again on 2 cars and I thank you for your feedback in advance!

I currently am having a 2013 G37x shipped out from CarMax. It has 58,000 miles and is being sold for $15,500. Though its a little overpriced, I've heard pretty good things about CarMax's vehicles and after months of waiting around I decided to just bite the bullet and pay a little more for a car that's in great shape and will last me awhile.

However, on the other hand I just found an ad on craigslist for another 13' G37x for $11,000 with 105,000 miles. I'm checking out the car today. It appears to be in good shape, and the owner says it hasn't given him any issues but there are limited maintenance records before the 50,000 mile mark. I already have a appointment set up to get it inspected Wednesday afternoon. If all checks out with a PPI, do you think this would be a safe car to buy even though there are limited maintenance records pre-50,000 miles? The guy selling it is also the 3rd owner so its impossible to say if any maintnance was done at all early in the cars life.

I guess my question is- if the higher mileage vehicle checks out should I buy that one instead and save almost $5k?

TL;DR- Should I buy a clean 13' G37x with 58k mileage for $15.5 from a CarMax, or another 13' G37x with 105,000 miles for $11k from a private dealer.

Thanks!

^^

My advice is if you are going to buy a used Infiniti purchase a three year old Infiniti coming off a lease at your local Infiniti dealer that performed all the required services on that vehicle and will give you a full warranty. Might cost a little more but you are less likely to get scammed and surprised with sudden repairs

I should mention that although I had no intention of purchasing a used Infiniti, when I was having a free coupon oil change at my local Infiniti dealer a couple of years ago with my 2012 G37S, while waiting I found a used 2016 Q70 on the showroom floor with 3425 miles marked down roughly $25k off MSRP.
They let me test drive it home (a 50 mile round trip) and that's how I ended up with a slightly used Q70.
Between now and the end of the year is an excellent time to grab a deal at a dealer that keeps the best used vehicles and sends the crappy ones to auction.
