I need help on figuring out this car's carfax. It seems a little confusing and maybe nobody liked this car but I'm trying to see if this is a good buy or not.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like a G37xS instead of just an X (sport seats and paddle shifters).
Owner 1 took it in for 7,500 mile interval maintenance. This is a bit above the standard 5,000 or 3,000 mile people usually adhere to.
Owner 2 drove it 19,000 miles in 16 months. 3-5,000 maintenance intervals, so nothing to worry about.
Owner 3 (dealer) couldn't resell it so it was sitting on the lot for over 2 years accruing about 5,000 miles, most likely from test drives and employee joy rides.
Owner 4 (another dealer) is now trying to sell this in Illinois.
I'd pass, there might be a reason why it was sitting for 2 years. Go for a 2012+ since they fixed the timing cover gasket issue and you get an updated bumper.

Never done business with that dealer but quite familiar with the area. We looked at a mazda last year at one of their sister's dealers. Parking was a nightmare, test drive uninspiring (evanston is one of these older communities with ghetto elements and narrow streets & tons of traffic).
Have you actually looked at the car and driven it?

Yeah I was wondering where all the miles were coming from if it wasn't sold.
Problem is 2012+ will be $20k+ and I honestly am not sure if I should buy a car for that high.. wish I made more income.

Nah I haven't visited, just browsing online for now because it was enticing for 15k to get a g with awd and sport.

Thanks for the helpful advice as always. I wanted to know your opinion on this car as well.

There's very little information about this car, since there's no free carfax. It was driven about 15k miles per year, a bit on the high side but nothing to worry about. Looks the only mods were tints and wheels, suspension looks to be stock. I'd question why this xS is being sold at $14.5k. Unless if they bought a rebuilt car at a huge discount, this is a bare bone margin for the dealer.

Very true. My friend just put a down payment on the revamped 2017 wrx...I'm hoping that the clutch doesn't burn within the first month (known problem) and the new FA engine doesn't blow up

Sorry for the late response, I didn't subscribe to the thread

haha its all good. I have been mia as well. I was looking at other cars such as a lexus ls400 year 2000 had 60k miles for 8500. But it got sold. I was also looking at honda accords just purely because of maintenance and since I will be driving a lot of highway miles. I wish someone can convince me to go for a 2012-2013 g37 base or sport model either coupe or sedan. It seems like all the research I do, the maintenance is not very high for a G except premium gas and tires. I would appreciate if someone could sway my decision towards a G.

Very helpful links which I've read but will read again thoroughly.
I'm torn between a coupe or sedan due to price as well as sport or base model.

Between a coupe and sedan it really depends on how much you're willing to spend and whether or not you need 4 doors. Sedans tend to be on the cheaper side but you can get a coupe for around the same price range just with a bit higher mileage.
As for sport vs base.
I'd HIGHLY recommend sport models.
Pros vs Cons between both
Pros of a sports model...
1. Bigger/nicer brakes (Akebono brakes)
2. Better body styling
3. Better suspension
4. Better seats
5. Paddle shifters
6. Better gearing & steering ratio
7. Better wheels/tires
8. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting lol
Cons of a sports model...
1. NONE

I own a sports model...Kenny summarized the positives and they are big positives....
I will add some cons of the sport model:
-Costs more
-If its a "sport" should have more power ...it doesn't. Even the IPL has only 18 HP more...honestly in the performance world that is nothing.
-Although we notice every detail of our cars...everyone else, not into this car, does not know the difference between base vs sport model.
-Lag when you shift - should not exist on a Sport model... but we all complain and do what we can to reduce it...
- Some complain about the stiffness of the ride. I honestly don't understand this but I come from much stiffer cars so my opinion does not count.
