extended warranty on a used 2011 G37?good buy or not?
recently purchased a 2011 G37X LUXURY WITH 55000KMS on it
bought it from a dealership
they are trying to sell me this 3000 dollars extended warranty
which covers pretty much bumper to bumper for 5 years or 1400000kms
the car still has bumper to bumper factory warranty which expires in 2 months, and the powertrain warranty expires in 2 years, do i need the extended or is the factory warranty sufficient?
if its not, is 3000 too expensive or worth the money???
this is the brochure for the extended protection warranty
http://www.firstcanadian.ca/document...e_brochure.pdf
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

A quarter past stripped
A lot of people say that any extended warranty is a scam or rip off. I personally opted to buy the Infiniti extended warranty through my dealership. I like the insurance / re-assurance that the car is covered in case of a break down. My warranty covers everything bumper to bumper with the only exception being interior aesthitcs such as leather and aluminum trim. I had my steering wheel replaced for free ($1200 new) 2 weeks before the factory warranty expired. IMO the warranty is worth it. The car is covered till Feb. 28th 2018. These cars are pretty reliable, but for $59.00/month = $708.00/year it seemed reasonable to me. My dealerships shop labor rate is $168.00/hr. Any "real" issue with the vehicle could become costly.
+1 for extended warranty

You know the more I think about it, the more I'm likely to go for the extending warranty once factory one is up ... reason being the time will be up well before I reach the mileage.
do you guys get them when 4/60k or 6/70k is up? What kind of prices & coverages are you guys getting?

thanks guys.
see the concern that i have is that, if we were to buy the extended warranty, it starts from the day we purchased to the five year mark or to 140000kms. problem with that is, it voids the remaining two months of basic factory warranty, and two remaining years of factory warranty that we have for the powertrain. to me it almost makes more sense to extend it once the factory warranty is up?
also, we wont be using the car too much, it's a car for my gf to commute to work mostly, it doubt we will even put 10000 kms on it a year. in 5 years, 55000km + (10000*5) = 105000kms unless something freak happens, would we need more than 4000 dollars of repair (thats 3600 plus interest rate)?

So, what you are insuring is that your vehicle isn't one of the outliers. You can expect, I think reasonably, that if you don't get the extended warranty, you will pay something to fix a problem that would have been covered. The question is, will repair costs exceed warranty costs.
I suppose you could research and see if there are any repair cost stats out there on older gs and use that as a proxy. But, and I don't know this, I imagine Infiniti has that info and keeps it close to the vest.
So, to me, it was a crap shoot. I never but extended warranties on anything, I essentially self insure. On most things, they aren't worth crap. Nonetheless, I purchased the warrant on my 12. The main reason? I've had Maximas and those **** Bose stereos always break. I figured there is a damn good chance for a problem with my Bose and nav which I know will be costly.
Cost to extend once factory warranty up will be far higher btw. Good luck.

Even if its Infiniti dealer make sure it is a Infiniti warranty not a third party warranty. When I purchased my G from an Infiniti dealer the finance guy was trying to sell me a third party warranty
You don't have to buy the warranty from the same dealership where you got the car.....I would shop around for the best deal.

Do not buy the warranty from your dealership, pls call her.
Courtney Mutema @ Infiniti Of Scottsdale (Arizona)
Phone: 480-295-4174
She sells the same OEM extended warranty for lesser price. I bought one, not from her, but another lady in New Jersey. This is the real deal. I already had warranty work on my car using the extended warranty. This is not a third party.
Elite Warranty Protection - Places To Buy : Infiniti M35 and M45 Forum
The extended warranty covers bumper to bumper . It is an extension of all free service you originally have such as loaner car, etc. For the bumper to bumper, if you chose to have deductible ($50 or $100) you pay that amount per warranty visit not per item. So if you have a broken cup holder, stereo, visor , etc. You go to your dealership and demand to fix all of these issues and just pay your deductible. Extended warranty is worth it if covers bumper to bumper which we have for Infiniti.

I bought the extended warranty from Courtney when I bought my G with $0 deduct. Used it this weekend to take care of about $4,500 worth of work on my G.
It was worth it for me.

third party warranty is unlikely to cover anything you actually need.
And to the guy who compared warranty on an infiniti to warranty on his german cars totally different animal!
$3000 is a lot of money for a warranty on an almost new japanese car. Take that money, put it in a decent interest bearing account just in case.

I paid $1350 ($100 deductible) for the Extended Elite warranty protection plan for my 2011 X (29,000 miles) from Sherry at Circle Infiniti 300 rt 36 West long branch, NJ 07764. I also contacted Courtney Mutema @ Infiniti Of Scottsdale (Arizona)Phone: 480-295-4174, but I got a better deal from Circle Infiniti. shop around and look for the best deal. You can purchase the warranty from any dealer and have your car serviced at any dealer.
