i hope you didn't get this car either. be patient, unless that car is free, you'll come across another at a good deal.

I actually did see the car and it turned out good just had minor damage to the front and radiator. But to me the color was really ugly and I didnt like it at all. By the time I added in the cost to paint it a completely different color it wasnt a good deal. I was hoping for a darker blue but this was like a female blue. Only damage was the fender, bumper, and headlight.

Hello all. Newbie to the forum and I have some thoughts as well as the location (gasp)

2008 Infiniti G37

I live in Northern Illinois and a member of S2ki for 6 years now (own 2001 S2000)

Cheese20323, I highly suggest backing away from this thing unless you have the funds to repair it. I've been in the market for a G37 S for only a week and know i will be looking at (realistically) 18-25K used. I'm also 25, insurance will murder you at 16 because they know you will hot dog it any chance you can get.

My little story about the S2000 is far from yours, but similar in a way that it is something you want. At 19 I bought my S2000 on my own credit, no down payment, no co-signer, no one to help negotiate. Insurance cost me $160 a month (loans = full coverage). A car like this, you don't want on liability.

A dealer will sniff this out and take advantage of you royally if you so decide to go this route. You are looking at a $18K+ USED car for the Chicago area. It is bragging rights and your likely to total it looking cool for your friends (i can not relate to this as i was a loner and just bought something i wanted).

Parts will not be cheap for you, as well as maintenance (unless you do things yourself).

You are also looking at a car that should be using premium gas and will see best mpg around mid 20s. Get used to the $4+ a gallon price. Don't skip out on the regular maintenance either, you will suffer the problems later in your bank account. Tires aren't cheap. My s2000 loves tires at stock specs and nearly a year an a half = new tires. The G37 will be taking much larger sizes then I do, and a g37 will look goofy on cheap tires.

On the plus side, if you can prove everyone wrong, you will have an incredible car for an age group that really shouldn't be anywhere near owning. Be sensible, conservative, and know the value of your money.

I've had to sacrifice a lot for what i wanted, because i didn't want to be a 19 year old in a 19 year old car like everyone else. I chose full time job and avoided what social life I could have had, because I wanted to be in a different light. Credit and buying power is golden, but I find myself to be snobby as hell and lack interest in others because of their irresponsibility with money and selfishness. You don't need to be this kind of a-hole.
