Post Used-Car Pre-Purchase Inspection?

I found a loaded 2010 G37 Sedan with Nav 40K Miles for $24,481 + $399 Doc Fee + Tax from a Jaguar dealer. The salesman said it passed all the inspection.

Should I take it to Pre-Purchase Inspection? If so, where should I take it for Pre-Purchase Inspection? Infiniti dealer or shops like firestone?

Thanks in advance.

ALWAYS have any used car you are considering purchasing fully checked by an independent mechanic. After checking Carfax, have it inspected by a mechanic you trust.

I drive a toyota and always take it to the dealer for services, and I do not know any independent mechanic. Also the dealer who selling the G37 is out of state. Any tips on picking a place for Pre-Purchase Inspection?

If it were me, I'd go to an Infiniti dealership near where you are buying the car and talk to one of their techs and ask him if he would do it for you independently off the clock from his employer (not on behalf of his dealership).

I wouldn't get my lawn mower serviced at Firestone

Regardless of what make or model of used vehicle you buy, or if you buy it from a dealer, individual or online, or if it’s a certified pre-owned, the #1 reason bad cars are bought is the buyers’ inability to properly determine the current condition of the vehicle before purchase.

A pre-purchase inspection is the most important part of the buying process.

However, when getting a pre-purchase inspection, most buyers don’t know the difference between an "ASE Technician" and an "ASE Master Technician" and a “Body & Frame Specialist”. The differences will affect the quality and comprehensiveness of the pre-purchase inspection.

The differences between automotive technicians can be viewed at “UsedCarInspections.ORG”. This is a non-profit consumer site filled with helpful tips and information on how to select an automotive technician and what type of information you should receive from a pre-purchase inspection.

OP, try yelp to choose an Infiniti or Nissan dealer by the selling dealer. They'll want probably an hour to 1.5 hours worth of labor charges and will complete a 100+ point inspection. Call around and see what they say if the Jag dealer has nothing to hide, they should have no issues having another shop look at it.

If you are looking at buying the car say 50+ miles from where you live, but the person you want to inspect lives close to your house, will some of these dealers let you drive the car to your inspector and bring it back? How does this work? Is there a certain amount of miles the dealer will let the car travel for an inspection?
