My local Infiniti dealer fired their long-time GM in January for taking a customer check that bounced--$80K I'm told. They gave me the new G37x in February on my signature, but made me bring them a bank check the next day. Which annoyed me and apparently wasn't much safer for them.

Why do you think he'd be hesitant to pay you with cash if he's legit and has the money in the bank to cover this check he wants to give you? Ask yourself that. I hate to see anyone get burned, but you seem to be making this harder for yourself than necessary. If he has the money, he can get cash, can't he? You are about to be scammed. Good luck.

How is he taking any risk? He'll have the car and a bill of sale showing he purchased it.

The "over 10K" cash deposit is really easy to avoid...Deposit some one day, some the next day. Not that difficult.
Yeah dude..you will have a bill of sale anyways you can justify the 10k who cares man...I doubt you will be audited by the Secret Service and FBI. Money order is fine, cash deal..whatever..
