Buy car from dealer A or from dealer B who can get the car from dealer A?

I am looking to purchase a new G37x but the dealer in the bay area don't have the one I am looking. The one I am looking for is in Sacramento, who already gave me a pretty good online quote thanks to zag, but the dealer here says he can get that for me.

So what's the advantage of buying from the dealer here versus going to Sac to buy that car?

The dealer in sacramento won't swap the vehicle with bay area dealership because...he knows that you were looking for that car. Unless he believes that you are not going to buy it...he won't swap with anybody.

This happened to me...but this might not be true all the time.

i dunno how it is in california, seeing that you guys are freaking HUGE, but typically here in the northwest, car swaps come from other dealership within the region - aka out of state. there's a transfer fee and negotiations go out the door. also, the hassle of having to worry about transportation, as most dealers here opt for DRIVING the cars up versus transport. that and the potention for annoying kids smashing on your brand new car while they drive it up... i say go to sacramento and pick the car up yourself.

as long as their willing to honor the same price as Sac, just have them transfer it. Sac will most likely give the car up and be "swapped" for the same car or a car they move higher volume with. Dealerships do this all of the time, enjoy your new car

Dealer swaps are common. But you can call and ask if they can beat a price on a car.
