New 2009 G37
Hey guys, Im in the market for a new G37 and I'm leaning towards getting an 09 not only to get a better deal but also because I like the way the front bumper looks better.
A couple dealerships still have a couple 2009s left, Journey with premium package. What kind of deal do you think I can get on this considering its about to be a 2 year old car?

There were no significant changes from 09 to 10 except for the front fascia and shodo trim, I imagine it will sell for ~2 grand less than a 2010 mostly because it has lots of options there is room for a greater discount. maybe even a lesser discount if they have no mileage on them.
it's not considered a 2 yr old car either, since we're still in 2010 and that 09 could have been one of the last ones off the assembly.
did u get a quote?

I'd be interested in what kind of price they quote you too. I'm not in the market, but I peek around now and then and I know one of the dealers here has a new 09 as well in their lot.

if it is brand new the dealer will probably ask around $31-32 grand for it because it has a prem package and an MSRP of around $38,000, no miles and full warranty.
value is a combination of year and mileage (and lesser part options.) most people don't care about the new model year, they just want a g37 even though they only save a few hundred dollars going with a clearance car. Plus since the dealer sells it it could be sold for more money. all they have to do is give some guy $20 off his monthly and they can easily convince him to buy an old, new car.
i'm fairly certain i can get $27,5-28 grand for my 09 and it is lightly used and has no premium package.
until the 2011s come out the 2009s will still hold more value. wait until the 2011s are out and then i'm sure they'll drastically reduce the 09 to under $30 grand until then it will cost you almost the same as a 2010.
of course in a month or two that car will probably get bought up by someone else so you take a risk losing the car but maybe you can get a steal on a 2010 at that time.

That 09 is way overpriced...they will not get that. I purchased an 09 with prem+navi+sport wheel upgrade, and half the miles for under that price out the door. A relative purchased a journey with sunroof for that price out the door 4 months ago that was CPO with less miles and new tires, brakes, etc.

they'll get close to that price as they are a high volume dealership. even if they drop it $1500, it's still remarkable considering it has 40k miles!
it's never about the actual asking price it's about what interest rates and monthly payment they can swing.
options don't matter. options give the car almost 0 additional value after 3 years this is why i try to buy as close to base model as possible. if a car doesn't have the options i want as a base, i look into a different car. adding packages gives your car a negligible residual difference over the long run.
the fact u found a car with all these extra options just means you got lucky to find someone who purchased all those things for you and they paid for it big time when they traded it in.
unfortunately infiniti still nickel and dimes on things like auto on/off headlamps, moonroof, bluetooth and ipod cables. all these things should be standard by now. but in 2013 i'm sure the next gen will have all those things base. i can live without those things until then.
