If you sign papers, do you have to take the car home that day?

I was just wondering because my special ordered G37 Sedan with Prem, Sport, and Nav came in and I went into the dealership thinking everything was already done, but found out that it didn't have the aero kit, midnight grill, or the splash guards installed. The dealership was sort of recommending to pay and do the financing paper work already, however, it sounded like I had to take it home that day and when the other parts came in, I would have to take it back to the dealership to get it installed. I just told them to call me back when everything is ready because I wanted to clear bra that sucker before I start driving it daily

I think I'd wait to see the finished car before I agreed to purchase.

Tell them no deal until the car is ready with everything you wanted. Otherwise, you'll lose any leverage you might have had before you signed the papers. I've found that dealers are willing to bend over backwards for you when you're in the middle of a deal. Once the papers are signed, you're just another customer who purchased a car from them!

I've done plenty of deals where I had to reschedule an appointment to have things installed due to it being backordered, or appointments cannot be met between the dealer and the client.

Just make sure you get it in writing with a loaner vehicle for that day and all items owed listed.

I've done things the honest way but I cannot speak for other dealers

Yeah I figured the best option was to wait. I was going to sign right there but if I had to take the car home after I signed the papers, it just didn't seem right; although I'm pretty sure they're an honest dealership...plus there's the chance of getting rock chips when I'm waiting for the parts to come in. At least, I know that they'll rush to get the parts and install it. Thanks for the reply guyz.
