Buying a used 08 or 09? Or should I just wait for the 2010?

Hello everyone,

I have been a long time lurker here until recently I decided to make my account. I mostly spend my time on My350Z.com since I've always been a Z fan. So far by with the knowledge I have gathered throughout the years of forum hopping, looks like that what I need/want at the moment is a good touring car.

Still need to test drive though. I know I should at least drive one first but I am already in love with the styling interior and exterior wise. Also aware of the possible problems (battery, exhaust rattle, etc) and I'm still in love with the G..

Like my title, I am confused whether I should just wait for the 2010's to get here or just pull the trigger on such good deals on the 08's. Here's my real dilemma..

I love 4 colors, MW, PG, OB, and AG. I find most of the used 08's here in houston to be black. Is there a big difference between the 08's or 09's? Does the 09's have less problems? I know that the 09's have the 7at but I'm really leaning towards 6 MT.

The average price on used 08's with less than 18K is around 32-33K some are fully loaded with Nav, prem, tech pkg and some just have sport package or premium and nav. I'm in Houston, TX BTW and would appreciate it a lot if some of you Houstonians can direct me to a good dealership. I know BlackBetty got his from CLear Lake.

So should I just hold on at the moment see what 2010's has to offer? All I could remember that's new on the 2010 is the better resolution on the LCD screen.

I can't make up my mind whether to get a killer deal priced 08's or wait for any leftover 09's if the 2010 doesn't have as much improvements over the 09's..

Thanks for reading my long first post guys.. Sorry if it's a little bit confusing. I just thought I'd give a better perspective from where I'm coming from.. Hoping to get my hands on a G pretty soon..

Mike

If I'm not mistaken, Infiniti is set for a press release tomorrow regarding the 2010 G lineup.

I'm in a similar position as you, so I'm eagerly waiting for the announcement.

I've got a quote for an Amethyst Graphite 09 g37s 6MT Navigation, Premium, Rear spoiler, Kick plates trunk cargo mat for $44,335.. I know I have the advantage of year end sales and end of the month quota that they have to meet. Question is, how much should I negotiate? I'm hoping 35K. Is that even possible? I know my credit score is good around 700-740.

I just bought my wife her 2009 MW G37S with all that you described here in San Antonio in September and got it out the door with Tax / Title / License and added the tinting and the chrome wheels for 43,556.00. The rims were 1395 and the tinting was 275. Gunn Infiniti had it discounted @ 38,995 and MSRP was 44310.00. So if you dont mind the 2 hour drive I would check them out and ask for Paul Pedraza. Tell him Charles Ryan sent you.

Was just at my dealership getting some work done to my car- they still have a NEW 08 coupe on the showroom floor. Its BS, Journey, Sport, Prem, Nav, 4WAS, Spoiler, Kicks, Mats. When I talked to my salesman on my way through, he tried to sell it to me for 32,000, before talking trade on my car. (If it would have had Tech, I may have considered.) If I remember correctly, the sticker on that car was ~45,600.

I was just at the deapership and i was quite unsatisfied with how i was treated. It may be because i look very young that the guy kept on insisting that i should lease. I wanted to slap him silly so bad it was a good thing my gf was with me.

The guy kept telling me that i have good credit but refused to even negotiate with the price. He kept going back and forth to the manager and giving me the run around.

I walked out and left them with that look in their face "damn we just lost a customer"

Ok so I looked online through Sewell Infiniti in north houston and I found a car from one of their dealrships in dallas and they will ship it here for free if I decided to get the car..

2008 G37s 6 MT OB premium and Nav pkg with 16K miles. 33,138 + tt&l certified pre-owned.

Good deal or ask to lower the price?

I think 33K is too high...31K is good (at most 32k), imo.

yeah, I'm going to try and shoot for 31K.. I'm not sure if its wise to have a credit application through the dealership before you negotiate the price or after..

I don't think it will make any diff. in term of when you discuss about financing. However, it's best that you check with your local banks before you go to the dealer.
