Edmunds TMV pricing
I've been in the market for the g37 coupe, and I've noticed that the TMV invoice price for the g37 coupe at Edmunds is quite a bit lower than the standard invoice price (~$1000 for certain setups). I've talked with a few dealers, and they're trying to give me the runaround about how it isn't accurate and that they can't honor that price. Has anybody actually gotten the dealer to give them the TMV price or start negotiations from that price?
The price makes sense this economy sucks ***** right now, but they don't seem to care! So if anybody can post their experiences, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I used different websites to get the feel for what others were paying.
Check out this website. I used it to purchase my car.
TRUECAR - The Authority on New Car Pricing
Basically invoice is public information. Everyone knows invoice price. What we don't know for sure is what truevalue dealer paid. Since this can vary from state to state and different offering. I have gotten low Edmunds TMV for sedan. I am thinking you should be able to. If you can't get a deal you want for 09 coup, wait for 2010.
Note that truecar paid by dealership is lower than invoice price. So if you can get it at invoice price that's good buy. If you can get it below invoice and even at near or close to truecar value that's a great buy. I think there is $1000 rebate for certain coups until the end of November. Try to negotiate the lowest price you can and then you can deduct $1000.

Completely wrong.
The dealer paid invoice for the car.
Once the car is sold (in the case of Infiniti), the dealer gets some money back from the factory (holdback, any applicable incentives on the car).
This is an extremely simplified version of what goes on, but generally accurate.

I do believe Edmunds number crunches its TMV for a specific regions. I got different TMVs when providing different zip codes when configuring a car on its website.
If reports on Edmunds's forums are to be believed, folks in other parts of the country are getting mind blowing deals. Apparently, there are dealerships willing to close deals below invoice, pocketing all or part of the dealer-to-cash incentive Infiniti is currently offering to its dealerships.
Ultimately, my goal was to get a great deal for my G37S sedan, which coincidentally ended up right at Edmunds' TMV. I got the same treatment you did dealing with a salesperson, but finally got things moving working through the Internet salesperson. You may also try talking directly with the sales manager. Wouldn't hurt.

With the economy the way it is the consumer has the advantage...if you know what youre doing.
I paid $3k+ under invoice for my G37S coupe. And, at the time, $3k under TMV (now its $1,6k under TMV) My advice to you, spam all the dealers with internet quote requests and make them beat eachother out.
i.e., you say: dealer A offered $37,6 can you beat or match?
dealer b: yes i will beat it..$37.
you: dealer b offered $37, can you beat or match?
dealerc: yes i can beat....
repeat about 4-5 times with different dealers and eventually youll get a good deal (and hopefully itll be legit).

Haha thanks for all of the advice. I will try to do everything you guys told me. This is my first time trying to negotiate a deal on a vehicle, so it's pretty tough. I'll keep pushing for the TMV price, but I highly doubt they'll give it to me since the 09's are almost all out! But again, thanks!!

I got moonlight white with graphite interior. It was a long process because of my indecisiveness, but I dealt mainly with Cerritos Infiniti and Tustin Infiniti. Cerritos offered that price, and Tustin matched it, so I went with Tustin since it was closer to me and they already helped me a lot. I spoke with David Martinez at Cerritos and Carlos Martinez at Tustin.
If you are looking for moonlight white with graphite interior, it seems like there are VERY few left.

On Friday, got my '09 G37 Sedan Journey + Premium, splash guards, cargo net for $30,000 + ttl. Infiniti of Thousand Oaks, CA. Platinum Graphite/Graphite. Beautiful car, traded my '06 G35 for it, loving the G37 so far.
