Ready to buy
I am looking at buying a 2009 G37 sedan or coupe. With the $2,500 dealer cash available now, if I forgo the financing option, should I be able to get a purchase done at $3,000 below invoice?
Thanks in advance for any help

I think there are a number of factors involved, but right off the bat, I'd say you should be able to get 3k below invoice if you know how to work the dealers.
Some factors involved:
location
are you picky about color, options?
6MT or 7AT
trade-in
those are the main ones off the top of my head. where do you live tom? are there many infiniti dealerships near you?

Thanks for the quick response! In Denver, so two dealers, but all the good deals seem to be in Texas and the Northeast. Just looking for simple premium and sport, no navi or tech. No trade, so that makes things much easier. Pretty used to negotiating with dealers.

Yes, I think you have a good chance. I would email all the dealerships within a 150 mile radius, and ask them to offer their lowest price and itemize every cost - even dealership fees and such.
Take the lowest, then ask your closest dealership if they can match that price. Tell them you will service your car there and give them a top survey.
I think if you act soon, no later than October, you should be able to score a nice deal on an 09.

Just bought this past weekend
I just bought a Journey Coupe/Sport Packag (MSRP about 40 ish) and I paid invoice ($36,729) and I also got the $2500 cash so it took me exactly $2500 below invoice. Don't pay more than that. The percentage points wont outweigh the benefit on the Cash Incentive

Ready to buy
I bought my G37xS at the end of last month for $2500 below invoice from Mike Ward in Denver. So you should at least be able to get that much off. $3000 might be a stretch since we only have 3 Infiniti dealers in the entire state (inc. Co Springs), but you may get lucky! Good Luck!

Thanks again, doubledeuce!
Just need to confirm that the 2,500 below invoice at Mike Ward did not have any additional dealer handling, doc fees, etc. Basically, was it 2,500 below invoice plus tax?
Thanks!
Thanks!

dealer confusion/intention
When Infiniti of Denver said they would match the $2,500 below invoice, they wanted to include their $489 D&H. Wasted my time, just make sure that you are very clear when sending emails as to what you are willing to pay (in my case, $2,500 below invoice, not $2,500 minus $439 D&H)

tom, it might not be the best time to buy. yes, i know there is a great incentive to buy infiniti right now. but traditionally, incentives stay the same or get better at the end of the year.
you probably know automakers have cut back their production since the recession began last year. and now, due to the cash for clunkers program, the number of new cars in the US has reached a record low for the month of September. it will probably take one or two months before supply has caught up and consequently better deals for the consumer.
but if the $2500 incentive disappears next month and you were waiting for better, dont blame me!
