2009 G37x coupe (new) or used 08 335xi coupe (under 10k)

Hey all,

I've been contemplating geting a G for a couple years now, and now that the 2009 g37x coupe is AWD I am ready to move forward. Right now the deals are pretty good with the 2K rebate, I want to pay in cash. My timetable is beginning of summer to buy it new. I am hopeing to get 1000K off of invoice price by then. Any opinions on people thinking this would be possible? I test drove one the other day and liked the ride, although I thought the interior could be more luxurious. I am thinking I can get it negociated to about 40K with all options (using the manufacturer rebate)

Now I also am considering a 08 BMW 335xi coupe as well, anything with under 10K miles. I've seen a couple around here that go roughly for the same price currently as a new G. I can probably get the 335xi for 37-38K with premium package, nav, cold weather package and 10K in milage.

I like to keep my cars for a number of years so my only concern with the bimmer is the reliability, for the G I don't have that worry.

I am having a difficult time deciding whethere to go with a new G or a slightly used bimmer in mint condition, for me the price different for the new bimmer is not worth the extra cost, that's why I am considering the slightly used one (although I am not a big fan of used cars, i've always bought new)

any advice would be appreciated.

I'm am in that same dilemma I was definitely considering getting the BMW 335i coupe MT blk on blk a used one of course.. Im trying to hit the $35-37k range. I stumble across a 2007 335i, 19k miles, MT, fully loaded, navi for 39k out the door. Or I can get a new G37 fully loaded, MT, navi for the same price. Thoughts?

a '07 355i is worth less than the $35k in the values... but why compare a used car that you don't know how it's been maintained versus a brand new car?

In this thread I was talking about an 08 335xi, which is more than that in value. That is true in regards to maintenance thats whats holding me back right now...

do you plan on keeping the bmw for a while? if you do, after the warranty expires good luck and let us know how it is... bmw has great warranty but when it expires, you're definitely screwed if something bad happens.

you don't think the G is luxurious enough? have you been in the previous g35 coupe? the interior is very nice imo. the bmw is too bland....

gl with your choice, you're asking a g37 forum so a lot of people here will tell you otherwise

Well I do like to get good use our of my cars, my previous car is a civic, which i Bought brand new and have had it almost 12 years (bought it when I was 16), so I think I deserve it

I probably plan on keeping it at least 4-5 years, does bmw offer an extended warranty? I read somewhere infititi offers some warrary up to 100K...

if you plan on keeping longterm go infiniti as is much more reliable and less costly repairs.

Adrian, I own an 08 335xi black on black equipped exactly the way you want it with 16000 well maintained and carefully driven miles. my brother in law just got a new g37 coupe and while it's awesome, he has to admit it's not a bmw. the bimmer is tighter and fit and finish is more heavy duty. guess it's the difference between Japanese and German auto makers. The g37 comes closest to the 335 but its not there.
There's a lot to be said for getting a new car, however the bimmer doesnt start to break in till 10000 miles. it's a rocket.
my car also has blue tooth, ipod adapter, and a set of snows on wheels($1700 new).
I'm thinking about subleasing it for the remaining 6 months of my lease or selling it for the closeout of 38800 including the tires and wheels. good deal for someone! i love it but i have my eye on a 911.
best, Scott

Adrain-

I was in the same boat as you and decided to go with the G37 because of the value. Last week I bought a new G37 coupe with premium package for 2k under invoice. My first thought was I wanted the BMW 335 coupe, but I wanted to look around. After comparing the price (with the options that I wanted) a new G37 could be had for about the same price as a used 335 coupe. Then I started to compare reliability, and the decision was pretty clear for me. There are some things that I think are nicer on the BMW, but not enough to justify the price difference. There are a few bimmer lovers here in work that checked out my car. Even they admitted that I couldn’t get the same value out of a BMW. With the current deals, I think the G37 is the best bang for your buck because you can negotiate 2k under invoice.

Just my $0.02.

Well, after much thought right now my choice is the g37 because of the value and long term reliability. I did drive the 3 series coupe and it was a great ride, definitely better then the g37.

I am planning on purchasing a 09 g37, I want to finance a portion of it through infiniti's financing deals. I am hoping they will offer a 0.0% APR for 09 coupes by the end of the summer, and I am willing to wait till then or a few months after to get that deal. I know for the 08's they have 0% apr when they were trying to get rid of them.

0% APR arrived - Is this a good deal?

So finally what I've been waiting for

I saw infiniti came out with 0% APR for the 2009 g37 coupes, and now I am shopping around for the best deal.

I am looking for the following:
2009 g37X coupe (platinum graphite/graphite)
prem, nav, 18" alum wheel, illum kick plates, cargo net
I want to also get the vibration sensors but the dealer is having a hard time finding that part in the catalog...

So far one of the dealer's price is $43,000 for everything above minus the vibration sensor,

I attached the edmunds report for the options on this

So according to this, he's about ~300ish over invoice. The reason the rims are more he said is cause they don't come with the car and he has to order them from the parts department, and he can't get much for the stock wheels.

What are your guys thoughts on this deal? I wanted to get at least invoice on this, I can't get the 2500 cash back since I am taking the financing...

You can certainly do better, at least $1000 under invoice is what I've been reading (in Cali, though there's much more competition in Cali so pricing is better).
