It makes sense to me in this case for the following reason:

dealer doesn't have car in inventory

they have to buy the car from the other dealer for invoice

they are giving you invoice + Infiniti corporate incentive, so they're not making any $ on it

they must charge a transport fee to make some $ on it, otherwise why would they buy the car from the other dealer just to give it to you for invoice?

probably costs them $250 for transport, another $250 to make it worth it for them to go through the trouble of getting you the car

Just buy it from the dealer who has it and take a road trip to go pick it up.

If youre local dealer isnt giving you the deal you want anyway, dont bother with them.

You can still bring it there for service after your purchase, it doesnt matter where you bought it.

Make sure this is for truck transport of your car - not somebody driving it to you. If this is for someone driving to you, just do it yourself and save the fee and wear/tear on your G. Dealers do negitiate with this, my VR was in Miami, but my dealership ate the $400 cost to truck it to me. The only thing good about my dealership was the price, everything else they screwed up.

I take my G into a different dealer for service and everything else now. I've had no problem with them at all. Tho I did lease my G35 coupe from them - not sure if that helped me.

UPDATE - No Deal

Thanks for everyone's opinion and advise.

I checked back this weekend and there was no movement on the price (which wasn't even at invoice) nor the delivery charge.

So I walked away and said no deal. It killed me to walk away but I know I can do better on price. I'm ready to buy once I get an offer at the price point I'm looking for (83%-87% of sticker).

I checked with Houston dealer who also had one in stock close to the color/options I wanted. Their final price was also above invoice. With the $1,000 incentive, it brought it down to just below invoice. When I indicated I had lower offers, he said that was all the lower he was going.

I'm going to wait a month and try again.
