Well, so far my dealership (Prime Infiniti) has been very accommodating. I've been told they're pretty aggressive in pricing and financing and lease terms. I also know they've just recently bought Clair Ford and VW, and anything else the Clair company had.
One would think that a big company such as this would have enough leverage to negotiate leasing terms in the customer's favor.
Well, today is do or die time if I'm going to get the car for Saturday. I was planning on doing a whole Boston visit with my family for the weekend, and this debacle is ruining it.
All I wanted were things to go smooth. I still believe it can happen, though it seems like someone from IFS Dallas needs to get their head out of their a$$. They need to understand that I wouldn't even go for a car like this if I didn't think I could afford it.

Ok..so I just called them. Still nothing back from IFS. I told the dealer it's do or die today if I'm to take delivery on Saturday.
By the sound of his voice, he's not too enthused about getting shafted by IFS being more strict on their policies. He's taken accountability that their dealership failed on this.
I also told him, "it's not like I don't have money to spend.."

Best advice I'll give you being a dealer myself... be honest with them and they'll be honest with you. Most people think that the dealer and salesmen are sneaky, cheat, and lie to make a sale. In fact, I've learned that it's the consumer that sets this up from the begining.
Case in point, one young man recently wanted the only available Garnet Ember Journey Sport sedan which was 400 miles away. He claimed that he got an offer below invoice including shipping charges to obtain the vehicle. In the end, we made the deal, however no where near what he "wanted" and I called him out on his bluff. He ended up admitting that he made it up just to see if that deal existed and called up to 5 dealers to try and find it just to find out that no one really wanted to listen to him since we all knew his "want" was unrealistic and I just made it quick and simple at a fair deal.
Keep in mind, when it comes to the financing end of things, it's not always the dealer but rather the banks. This is a sign of the times with our weakened economy and tighter restrictions on approvals to roll risky loans. Cross shopping to death isn't really going to get you much of a better deal, but find out just what they need to get your deal approved; if you agree to the terms and look over everthing to your satisfaction, jump in. Otherwise, this might not be the car for you.

I've already been honest with my dealer. They were actually a referral from a member here in the forum.
They have my credit report, Fico score, and all the necessary particulars. The pricing was for invoice pricing and this was the first deal I had. I asked a local dealer about pricing it similarily as they had the additional Nav package and they priced their car to $200 over invoice. I went with Prime, since they were better to deal with and were the first to LISTEN to me. The other dealer just kept on trying to sell me add-ons and it was like pulling teeth to get them to lower the price.
So in that sense, I'd recommend Prime Infiniti to anyone.
As for the "car not for you" crack, Dave, I don't appreciate that comment. I wouldn't be interested if I didn't have my situation setup perfectly. Everything was in place until IFS asked for that excessive down-payment. No one in their right mind would put $6000 down on a lease. NO ONE. I bet even dumb people wouldn't do that.
I was really looking forward to a great "Infiniti experience". Looks like external effects and corporate paranoia set in just a little too quickly.

*update*
I've talked with with the dealer one more time to see what IFS could do.
I offered $5000 down, and being out of MA, I pay the Maine sales tax, meaning that less is placed into what's being borrowed, and asked for the 60-month, 2.9%, and they STILL wouldn't take it.
What else could I do?
Nothing.
Oh well.
Looks like IFS doesn't want to do business with decent people. It also sounded like they change the rules in the middle of the game.

Wouldn't they be connected the same way to IFS?
I doubt I'll have success in getting this car through another dealer. Unless someone's not telling me different dealerships have different "pull" with IFS.

Hmm... Well It does suck that you are having this BS... You shoudl get the same stuff everyone else gets... as long as your credit is good... PERIOD... if that does happen... just start yelling real loud....

You've stated that you are not wasting their time and you wouldn't buy the car if you couldn't afford it, but the dealership has no way of knowing this other than your credit score/history. I cannot for the life of me imagine a reason why they wouldn't want to take your money if they could? Not to be overly personal, but is your credit score high enough to get the lease financed or is that possibly the snag? I'm at a loss just like you are as to why they wouldn't do it otherwise. The only time I've seen dealerships demand a big down payment to do a deal is if the credit was questionable.
Did you get caught in bed with the finance manager's wife or something?

Maybe it's because I'm from Canada?
But seriously, my Fico is rated in the high "good", no outstanding credit, two credit cards with zero balance, anything I use I pay off within the month.
Got a high-paying job...
I don't get it either.
