HELP! Lease scam!
Well, I went in to a dealer today to get a number on a new G37 coupe. I currently drive G35 coupe and wanted to trade that in for the new one. I got an appraisal for it(which sucked), but the used car manager told me that I wasn't the first owner when he pulled out the DMV record. There is no way in the world that I wasn't the new owner beacuase I leased the vehicle NEW from my local Infiniti dealer.
I later found out that the original owner bought the vehicle 3 month prior to my purchase date, with a valid license plate number. But for me, there is no way to know that I was leasing a pre-owned vehicle so I was driving my car for 2 1/2 years not knowing this.
I really feel I got scewed up and will, definitely, contact the selling dealer and Infiniti HQ tommorow. What are your thought on it and what should I expect/say to them?
Thanks in advance.

There were 110 miles on odometer, but it originally came from a different dealership (dealer trade) so it didn't bother me too much. I knew it was kinda high, but this is crazy!!

I just talked to the first owner over the phone (I searched the name and number on yahoo, scary huh?) but he told me that he never took possesion of the car, but the dealer went ahead and processed the deal. The reason he canceled the deal is because the orignal mile was over 200 miles and he didn't want anything so high. BUT when I leased the car, which was 3 month after, it only had 110 miles...... So what they did is they clocked back the miles and sold it new to me. Well, I think I have some chit chat to do tomorrow morning.

That sux man. The same exact thing happened to me when I bought my 04 Toyota Solara in 2004. I was the 2nd owner of the car, the first owner took delivery, took it 4 miles home and then it wouldnt start the next morning, so they took it back and got a different one. Then, I got stuck with a car I thought was new and ended up having major starting problems for its entire life with me (in the shop at least 25 times over 3 years for the starting problem). Good luck getting the dealership to cooperate- mine didn't.

So the original owner put only 200 miles on it in 3 months? And you believe that an Infiniti dealership rolled back the miles on an odometer (illegally) to make the car look newer, but only rolled it back 90 miles? They know the car had been previously titled and leased to to you as new on your paperwork? They took an awful lot of legal risks. What did they stand to gain by doing that?
That whole situation just sounds weird to me...
