New to Leasing... Here's what I got...

Hey guys,
Finally got in to my dream car.

G37, not planned either...

Last week I got into a major accident with my Acura TL.
Thank GOD for safety belts, my girlfriend and I slammed into the guard rail
on the Florida Turnpike doing about 60mph...

I'll get into that story with pics and all on another post.

Here is my lease info, I hope it's a good one, because this is the first time
that I lease... I went in with my girlfriend's Dad who always leases to help with advice on the deal I was getting (He has an 07 FX35)

G37S 6mt with ALL THE OPTIONS & I mean ALL OPTIONS
Premium, Nav, 4 active steering, Tech, Spoiler, Illuminated Kickplate, mud guards, mats, etc.

$3500 down (That includes all fees, first month payment, I also got the tire & wheel protection/road side assistance included in that down payment which cost like $400 & change with tax)

15k Miles for 24 months ( I wanted 24 months since, this is my first lease and I didn't want to commit to such a long term)

Monthly payment...

$499.98 (with tax included)

What do you think????

whats the msrp?
invioce?
what he is selling it to you for?

those are the 3 biggest concerns when you buy or lease a car.

There is no good reason to put money down on a lease.

nope people do it to c lower numbers. Which sometimes isnt a problem. But other then that.. problem.

And most the times when u put money down on a lease you save a couple hundred bucks on the total paid off.

If you have some extra cash to use as a down payment prior to leasing the car, some people such as myself like to have lower monthly payments. Also, I believe that if someone wants to buy their car after the term of their lease, having a down payment from the beginning will lower the residual balance a person owes to buy the car.

The reason why i put money down is so the monthly payment wouldn't be so high...

I compared it to the December offer that Infinit has online for the journey Package. It's $3849 down (tax, tag, title, destination, 1st month, etc. fees) & you pay $489 per month on a 39 month lease...

If I compare what I got with what they have as their promo then I didnt do to bad, I got the car for $40,1xx ( i don't remember the exact amount )

When I walked into the dealer, the guy wanted like $5000 down to have a payment of $499.

I didn't really have time to shop around or to do my home work on the subject,

Remember... Accident on Sunday 3am
Found out car my was totaled by insurance on Wed.
New car on Thursday...
I needed to hurry up because I only had the rental for 3 days after I got my check for the TL...

I went to another infinti dealer on Wednesday night & they were giving me the same deal ( $3000 down & same monthly payment, but I would have to pay the Rim & Tire protection on the side ($414, so the final amount equaled out to the same) on another G37s but without Tech package, without Spoiler, without Illuminated kick plates & without mud guards.

So in comparison for those 2 options, I think I did pretty well...

You did fine, bottom line is if your happy with the deal and the car then all is well. A good write up on putting money down on a lease:

http://www.leasecompare.com/autolease101_6.php

I would of directed you to do multiple security deposits if you have the cash. Your actually lowering your money factor(interest rate), you get the money back, and you don't pay taxes on the money.

Putting cash down doesn't lower the residual. if you want to lower your lease payment use the cash as a MSD. That way you can lower your monthly payment and get a big return on that investment. If that's not attractive for you put the cash down into a high interest bearing savings account and draw off it each month all the while earning interest on the funds. One of the more risky things about putting cash down on a lease is you may not get it back if your car is totaled or stolen.

No, but I did sleep in a holiday inn last night.

Numbers aren't my job but I've leased and purchased dozens of cars in the past and know the pros and cons of the ways to get a car.

i think you did good... sometimes people on here like to over-analyze things....

you can tell by the options you have and what you put out of pocket and the monthly... if you are paying a lot, average, or really cheap....

from what you are saying, without knowing excts, it seems to be a fairly good deal.. considering others have put $2,000 or so OOP and are paying $650/month for a longer lease.

The funny thing is I'm in financing and I didn't really analyze this option.
But you know what?
I defenatly will next time.

That's if I lease, because I'm in so much love with the G, that I'm thinking of saving up so when my lease is up, I'm gonna just buy this bad boy...

I'm in love

$15,000 for a fully loaded G @ 24 months seems fair to me. I wish i'll get a deal like that in nyc.
